There have been many stories
told about the Star Wars Universe: The original Trilogy, twenty years ago, told
of the Rise of the Rebellion and the Fall of the Empire, with heroes such as
Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia.
The original story got enlarged, and grew to
what has commonly been named the Expanded Universe. That Universe has been, and
is still, written about, in stories written by many different authors.The
Expanded Universe has told us the story of the following events after the Return
of the Jedi, and is now
even starting to focus on new characters, like the children of Han and Leia, as
well as on the old characters.
Since the Release of Episode I, The
Phantom Menace, in the summer of 1999, however, many speculations have been made
as to who is the real hero of the Original Story, and a new light has been shed
on one of the Saga's most controversial characters: that of Anakin Skywalker,
later the feared Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader. And while Anakin
Skywalker's fate is being dealt with throughout the next two Episodes, nothing
has been told yet of the many years between the events of Episode III and
Episode IV.
This Forum is dealing with
that tale - it is an attempt to create a plausible explanation of what exactly
made Darth Vader such an evil being, and of the events surrounding this
evolution. The aim is to write a story that deals with all aspects of his
shadowy nature, but also to show his other side, the part in him that still
belongs to Anakin Skywalker. But not only do we write about Anakin Skywalker,
but also about other events that might happen during that time span. In short,
it is dealing with characters known and unknown, during that
time-span.
The Forum
currently has 20 Members, and anyone interested can join us. The story is a team
effort - everyone is contributing to it - and therefore it is very important to
get feedback from anyone with different ideas and opinions. Please feel free to
voice your opinions in whichever way you chose - whether on our Message Board,
in the Guestbook or simply by sending us an e-mail.
There is a brief introduction to the
story outline, dealing with the possible events that could lead to the story's
plot, but nothing is absolutely final. We invite you to read it, and get a rough
idea of what the story will possibly be about.

Sir
Alec Guinness - Old Ben Kenobi - dead!
The legendary
British actor Sir Alec Guinness died on Saturday night (5th August)
at the age of 86, after having been in ill-health for several years.
He was perhaps the most reluctant superstar of the British film and
theatre world.
In a career spanning more than 60 years, his roles ranged from Shakespearean
classics and Ealing comedies to the acclaimed television portrayal of
spymaster Smiley and major cinema performances. But to anyone under
30 he was probably most famous for playing the part of Obi-Wan Kenobi
in 1977's Star Wars.
His greatest film roles included
the Colonel in Bridge on the River Kwai - for which he won an Oscar
- and the Fuehrer in Hitler, the Last Ten Days.
The hallmarks were always the same - extreme atention to detail and
an ability to "live" the character he played.

site has moved to http://www.oocities.org/thewritersforum . Plans are
made to get our own domain name, but for now, this one will have to
do.
Another
Award Won
The Forum has
won its fourth Award, given to us by Stormtroopers.org. Also, we got
the Bowl of Approval from the Massassi Order.

New
Members
During
the last week, the Forum received several more applications for membership,
and now there are 20 Members alltogether.This is the number of Members we
had wanted to achieve; from this point onwards, we won't be able to accept
every application anymore.

Story
Another
Fanzine Member, Tim Goddard, has contributed a story to the Forum. From
now on for four weeks, there will be a new story by him every week.
