(NATIVE INSTINCT/ex-CROSSFIRE)
I played for about 6 years in Crossfire. Let me say that the first five years were really great but the last year was not very good because we had a lot of arguments in the band. Chris(drums), Patrick(bass) and i, we loved to play the very heavy stuff and Marc(guitar) and Peter (vocals) loved to play more melodic stuff. So, i decided to leave the band in 1986!
After the 'Second Attack' release, Crossfire was history! Why did the band split up?
As i told previously, i left the band and Crossfire took Jacky in the band to replace me.
A few months later, Patrick left the band also and the rest decided to stop Crossfire. For the audience, Marc and Peter were CF but that wasn't always right, as you can see the results of it.
What did you do after the fall from Crossfire?
When i left the band,i hated the music scene! Not the music but everything around that scene...labels, managers, etc....So i sold all my guitars and amplifiers. I didn't play for about five years, but i still continued to go to concerts.
After that, i started a cover band with Ivan(our other guitarist). We played Faith No More, old-Metallica, Sepultura covers.A few years later we started with a new band by the name of NATIVE INSTINCT!
What's happened with the other musicians, did they totally quit playing Metal music? How are they now after all these years?
Marc stopped, Patrick stopped and Peter and Chris formed MYSTERY. I still see Peter because we recorded our CD at his studio. Marc and Patrick i never see and Chris i meet sometimes in the pub.
And so you've started a new band called NATIVE INSTINCT!Who are the members in the camp?
Like i said, Ivan is our second guitar player.he comes from the heavy Blues circuit.
Ronald (bass)played in several bands as Fire Snakes, etc..Frank (vocals)and Steve (drums) played both in Yosh. A Belgian Metal band from the 90's.
Was i your idea to start up the band or not?
Yeah, together with Ivan!
Tell me what the Metal To Infinity readers can expect from Native Instinct?
As you can see in another question, we are absolute no beginners at all! Expect some old school Metal with a touch of the year 2000. So real firework. Our MCD which was released in 2001 was very well accepted by the Metal press. They spoke about bands like Pantera, Armored Saint and Machine Head to compare us, so i think that's not bad at all.
If they really want to know us,they are all welcome at our official release party at the Mundo Club in Zottegem(Belgium) with our very special guest KILLER and support act DOUBLE DIAMOND! I can assure you already now that this will be a very Heavy Feast On Metal!!
I saw you guys a few times LIVE on stage and i was positive surprised about the power inside the band. Right-in-your-face old school Heavy Metal and even some eighties covers from SAMSON and ANGEL WITCH ! Who's cloice to cover these bands and why?
Thanx for your positive opinion. I t's right that we are trying to explode on stage and giving the best in us. We want to let revive Metal in Belgium. And i think that the time is right! Like you say, real Heavy Metal like it used to be. Our covers we choose are just like that because Angel Witch and Samson are both Metal Classics and 2 bands we really like.
I know there is a new Native Instinct album on the way. The honour is on you to present the album...title, influence, lyrics,...

The official release date is 12th of may. About the influences? No idea, it's up to the press to give their opinion.
But we are not making music to copy other bands,we really wanna sound like Native Instinct and not like any other band! When i'm in a period of composing songs,i try to listen at Metal as less as possible. So we have the less possible influences.
Any concerts or touring plans for the near future?
Concerts: we give our CDrelease party at MUNDO(Zottegem/Belgium)on the 10th of may 2003 with KILLER and DOUBLE DIAMOND. We are announced in june 2003 for a festival in Luxembourg. And we are trying to play as many as possible on the open air festivals next summer.
But as a Belgian band it's not that easy to be on the bill of big events. Let this be an announcement to say that we are ready to put the fire on the fuse on stage!

Keep the moral high because Metal shall rise again and will be as big as in the 80's.
