About This Web Site:

This is an independent web site containing technical and general information related to the Kawasaki Vulcan 1500-88, 150088SE, and 1500-L  ( series designations of 1500A, 1500B, and 1500C, respectively) V-Twin motorcycles, model years 1987 to 1999.  These models are affectionately known by their owners as BUBF's which stands for Butt Ugly But FAST

The information here has been collected and refined since 1998.  It is a compilation of factory authorized (but sometimes not publicized) repairs,  personal experiences, technical tips, war stories, how-to instructions, and little known facts, that you won't get in a service manuals.  The material and links included in these pages have been provided by BUBF owners and riders, themselves.   The pages were created to keep the body and spirit of these great bikes alive, although these models are no longer being manufactured.

These pages are meant to augment the VULCAN RIDERS AND OWNERS CLUB (VROC) technical and modification information web pages  <http://www.vroc.org/dbva/html/vrocfaq.html> by consolidating in one easy to use and access location, practical and useful material on these great bikes.

You are encouraged to visit the VROC Archives <http://www.vroc.org/dbva/html/searcharchive.html> for current comments and advice on the 1500A/B/C BUBF's.

My thanks to all the riders that have contributed write-ups and tips, and reviewed new versions.

And bless anyone who, as a result of terrorist acts lost their life or was injured in New York City, Washington D.C., and in the hills of Pennsylvania on September 11, 2001.

We acknowledge the brave Marines, Soldiers, Sailors and Air Force Men and Women who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and ask God to protect those serving valiantly in defense of our country.  You all ride SAFE, FAR, AND OFTEN.
