PAST SHOWS

Paul's birthday at some cheeseball bar in Lakeview, Face First and Hawgjaw played and then we grabbed their instruments and stumbled through 3 songs. Matt's back got real cut up on all the busted glass on the floor. Chad got in a fight with Broken-back Bruthe. It was a stupid show.

October 30th at Lounge Lizards with Evil Army and MC Spanky. Show was retarded. Some Marine tried to choke out Matt and threatened to kill him but decided to spare Matt because he looked in his eyes and didn't see fear... Idiot.

October 17th, Mobile at the Cell Block, played with Thee Hibachi Stranglers and some emo band. We rolled into town early in the evening after having crossed the remains of the Escambia bay bridge. Dinner at a sports bar put us in the mood to rock the cheesiest and only bar open on Sunday night in downtown Mobile. Thanks to our Mobile friends and everybody who came out...

October 16th, Savannah at Jinx with Malefactor and Lokyata. This show was great. Matt cleared the bar, even with his fucked-up foot. Partied throughout Savannah, lots of great people here, thanks Savannah (the girl), Judy, Fluffy the skinhead, the lead singer of Baroness and the staff of Jinx for being so understanding.

October 15th, Lenny's in Atlanta, we opened for the Alarmists and some shitty local band with too many instruments. All of five people showed up but we played well. Partying went on long into the night at Nee-Nee's house. Authentic Metal Face ended up vomiting out of her window because we got locked in her loft space. Matt passed out in the parking lot the next morning due to a blood infection he had sustained the night before. Thanks to Greg, Nee-Nee and Alison for the good times!

August 20th, the Casa in Mobile (aka Tony Tornado's trash pad), with Cockfight (Peniscola), Die Rotzz, Kajun SS and the Scripts. Indoor fireworks display courtesy of Jason Panzer, confused 16 year old mall punks got eyesfullofmayhem but all sat on the porch. Some douche got his ass kicked during Die Rotzz set; Paul Rotzz jumped up mid-song after the choad was seen punching Paul's girlfriend. The guy's ass got kicked, he came back for more and spit in Jason's face. He got bum-rushed again and went to his car for a tire-iron, all he could find was a stick. After talking through it all he was allowed to stay and was even seen hugging Authentic Metal Face at the end of the evening; Mangina is his new favorite band. Tony, get your electrical outlets grounded. Trashing his house.

August 13th, Checkpoint Charlie, with Distortionovsky, Face First and Hotcakes (Mobile). Pretty tight set that ended with Matt gushing blood and going to the hospital for stitches. Some girl that got hit in the head blamed Matt in the Emergency Room at Charity so they kept making him wait. After plenty of bloodloss he got released at 11 in the morning. Gnarly carnage photoes.

July sometime, Blythe's backyard, with Die Rotzz and the Kajun SS. Hot dogs and condiments everywhere, a kiddy pool was smashed and an herb garden was destroyed. Mangina beat back the lightning storm with uncompromising Black Violence and the garden party was saved. Garden party soiree.

June 5th, Hi Ho Lounge, with MC Trachiotomy and Deadmansfingernails. Kick ass show; no real moshing to speak of, everyone in the front row was just punching each other in the face. Trash cans thrown, old crackhead flashed everyone her breasts. Pictures.

May 21st, Lounge Lizards, with Outlaw Order and interludes courtesy of MC Spanky. Bloodiest show. Matt climbed up on the bar and on the way down, racked himself on the edge of the bar, singing the rest of the song curled in a foetal position only to arise triumphantly, proclaiming, "I got skills!" Pictures.

April 2nd, at Melvins's in New Orleans, performing with Spanky, "the Arythmic Rapper," opening for Evil Army. This was quite possibly our worst performance; bad sound, stupid audience, the owner's son calling the owner because he thought a riot was going to break out, the promoter getting threatened by the owner that "large men" were going to be involved if anything got broken. Matt broke some asshole's ankle who was throwing beer on Spanky; Spanky was great though. Large truck tires were thrown about the bar and every song sort of fell apart. Then, to make matters worse, everybody left before Evil Army went on like a bunch of pussies. Evil Army will return and so will Mangina's triumphant greatness. Pictures.

March 29th, at the Hi-Ho in New Orleans. We were supposed to play with the Murder Band but Authentic Metal Face had some sort of herpes flare-up and we had to cancel.

March 27th, the Handlebar in Pensacola. We played with the Hibachi Stranglers to a bunch of confused locals and friends from the Mobile area. A bottle of Sour Apple Pucker was smashed, people were hit with a "Thou Shalt Kill" sign and Authentic Metal Face threw a bar stool at a bunch of homosexuals on acid who were brushing their teeth not more than 6 inches from his face. At some point in the middle of the night our friend Deke disappeared into the night, never to be seen again. The following day was spent at the Florida-Bama bar drinking beer, watching the manta rays frolic in the surf and sneering at all the parachuters who looked like Sammy Hagar that landed on the beach and talked about their "jumps" at the bar. Losers.

March 26th, Tasty World in Athens with the Carbonas, Music Hates You and Fin Rizel. The second show on our Spring Break tour. The Carbonas smoked, Music Hates You was great and Fin Rizel does not rhyme with "My Nizzle." Tasty world is a gay name for a bar.

March 25th, Neutron Bomb in Hotlanta, with the Carbonas and some glam punk looking band and a grindcore band (I can't remember the names). Matt pulled a pile of boards out from under our audience -they fell. People looked at us confused but they stuck around for the entire show, cool. Tasty world is a gay name for a bar.

Thursday, March 18, 2004, our practice space. We played for an international audience consisting of Jan (Berlin, Germany). After our set, we walked down the hall and witnessed performances by Die Rotss, Soilent Green and the Kajun SS.

The Friday before Mardi Gras, February 20, 2004, Spellcaster Lodge. We played with the Dexter Romweber Duo and Black Caar. This show was fucking ridiculous: broken legs, pitbulls and loaded handguns got this show shut down prematurely by "the Man."

December 13th, 2003; guerilla show at the NOLA vs. ATL set at the Circle Bar. The Scripts, Die Rotss, Carbonas and the Black Lips were doing 3 song sets in turn when we stormed the stage and did our own 3 songs to the tune of beating asses. The last show Barry Sausage would see, Rest In Peace Barry.

December 6th, 2003; some guy's house-show in Mobile. We played in between German Honor Society and some christian band. We drove all the way to Mobile to play the Cess Fest in Langan Park; by the time we were supposed to start, it was cold and all the pussies had gone home so we were like, fuck it, lets play somewhere else in town. I think it was German Honor Society's house (thanks guys!) but it was definitely Neil's PA (thanks Neil!); we were totally trashed, I put my hand through a window, Matt totally fell naked on some whiney girl and Authentic Metal Face bashed a bunch of people with his guitar. It was fun and running around the streets of Mobile was great too. Thanks to Vertigo de Steve for putting on the Fest, sorry we didn't actually play it. Thanks to Neil and the Hibachi Stranglers, German Honor Society and the other great bands that played and hung out. No thanks to the weak bands and bullshit people.

November 22nd, 2003; reunion show. We opened for Spickle and 16 at Gary and Tomasa Mader's wedding reception (staged at the Howlin Wolf). "The Wolf," did not appreciate our 25 pounds of rice, sheet cake, turkey corpse and busted bottles of champagne and beer; we were asked to never come back. The show was "real awesome," though and probably charts as our audience's record attendance. Cd-r's of the show, "Full Blown Live" with full color covers are available via Rocks Off RPM for 5 bucks ppd.
Full coverage of the event.

September 19th, 2003; farewell show. Vena Cava (San Diego), The Scripts, and thee Hibachi Stranglers (Mobile) opened up for us. After running through the whole set, the crowd demanded more so we reprised 2 or 3 songs. Authentic Metal Face threw up everywhere, Matt shoved the microphone up his butt and I took several cups of beer to the face. The goodbye just dragged on and on. Pictures might come soon from Gary, you don't really deserve them if you weren't there, shitbag.

September 5th, 2003; two sets at the Circle Bar, the first one was the "mod" set, the second one was the balls-to-the-wall tried-and-true metal-up-your-ass set. Matt broke his arm jumping off Chad's amplifier. Lots of records were broken (the Elton John, Charlie Pride and Ray Stevens kind), knots were bestowed on heads and mods everywhere were indignant. Pictures by Gary.

August 13th, 2003; we opened for Helios Creed and the Faeries at the Dixie Taverne, the Black Sun played before us. It was a crazy show, we were pretty tight considering we hadn't practiced but once in 3 weeks. It was my bloodiest show as the bottle that Matt broke over my head cut-up my arm and shoulder pretty badly. Document and eyewitness.

June 28th, 2003; the French Quarter debut of Mangina. Dude, there were so many people there. We headlined Russel's Birthday Bash with generous support from Bonaparte Lagarde and the Conquerors -who broke their and our bass amps, Pig Knuckle (awesome Lafayette metal composed of ex-Icepick Revival members), and Drag Planet doing punk covers including Cyclotron, Chinese Rocks and some Dayglo Abortions cover. I think the Drag Planet was a one-off, from members of Morning 40 Federation and the Dirty Knives -the singer was so tone-deaf it was awesome. I saw Russel wandering drunkenly on Decatur afterwards and he thanked me gratefully; 10 minutes later I saw his girlfriend and some guy anxiously canvasing the native street trash searching for him. Hope he turns up.
Pictures is here.

June 19th, 2003; played a killer set at the Dixie, opening for the Bulemics, Before I Hang and the Pallbearers (last show with Andy and Marvin).
Matt got all bloodied up on some busted glass, Authentic Metal Face's bear-fur boots debuted, Emmanuelle Coleman actually sang. Bad ass. Gary took some photos, they're awesome as usual.

May 30th, 2003; we played at Mama's Blues with MOTO, the Final Solutions, Impractical Cockpit and PROMIS
Most strobes, smoke, titclamps and 12-year old black MCs yet. Special thanks to Jonas for helping out with the lights and atmosphere and Gregory "Emmanuelle Coleman" Chesnut for whipping the audience to a seething frenzy of anticipation. We sounded like shit but nobody really seemed to care. Pictures from Jessica here. More pictures at Gary Loverde's website. As well as some pictures Gary took but didn't post on his site.

Our best show was probably the one we played with Daisy and the Centimeters at the HI Ho on 4/25/03. Most carnage and punching yet. Bad ass pictures available at Gary Loverde's website.

March 22nd, 2003. Mangina rose to the occasion and filled in for Epoch of Unlight, supporting the uber-gay To Scale the Throne, Crimson Massacre and the far superior Catholicon. 3.22.03.

Pictures of the fourth and sixth shows are available here at this guy's website.

April 10th, 2003. When Mangina, Hawg Jaw, the Scripts, I am Not a Hot Dog and Driven by Suffering punished Gullfort Mississippi's Hawg's Tavern with brutality and beer bottles. 4.10.03.

When Mangina rocked and ruled Lord George's birthday party, headlining for the likes of Stephy and the White Socks, the Scripts and Rat in a Bucket. 4.6.03.

March 30th, 2003. When Mangina followed the Scripts at an impromptu set behind Juans Flying Burrito Uptown (not "the gay one") at Jay and Hugo's birthday party.

March 2nd, 2003. The triumphant live birth of Mangina at Rocks Off RPM, playing with King Louie One Man Band and the Pallbearers right after the Thoth parade.

Back.
