Notes:
Stations shown in italics were temporary. Stations marked with a * were closed and re-sited nearby.  Signal boxes shown in italics did not control all running lines. A red border indicates that the actual route is still open for and used by regular passenger traffic, blue indicates closed, green indicates open for goods traffic only and yellow indicates open as a preserved line. This is a strict rule and so, whilst a route may be open at some point between two locations, the colours indicate the status of the route at the exact location of the station. Signal Boxes shown in italics did not control all running lines. Station facilities are as shown in the British Transport Commission's 1956 Station Handbook, the key being as follows:

    G    Goods Traffic
G*  Coal Class, Mineral and Station to Station Traffic in Truck Loads
    G¶   Siding traffic only
P     Passenger, Parcels and Miscellaneous Traffic
P*   Passenger but not Parcels or Miscellaneous Traffic
    P¶   Parcels and Miscellaneous Traffic
F     Furniture Vans, Carriages, Motor Cars, Portable Engines and Machines, on Wheels
    L     Live stock
H     Horse Boxes and Prize Cattle Vans
C     Carriages and Motor Cars by Passenger or Parcels Train
Figures represent the power of fixed cranes in tons.
