Rectory Stud started it's life in 1983, but the breeding of Rex started in 1961, with a Chinrex trio I bought from Harry Bush. I moved South in 1969 and was unable to keep rabbits, as I was living in a flat in Wembley, but as soon as I got my first house in 1973, back they came. I obtained Orange Rex from Pat Gaskin after visiting the "Orange Blossom Show", which she |
held in the grounds of her home and then
later some Ermines from Alan Bullen, which I picked up from the "Alley Palley"
London Show. By now I was living in Chadwell Heath in
Essex.
I had an average sized shed with 24
hutches(Sydenham & Hanniford), but only kept about 12 rabbits in those
days. I went to as many shows as I could , but didn't show. Mostly going
to meet up with the friends I had then, and still have to this
day.
I had a young daughter born in 1974, a new house to pay for, so work committments stopped me showing, but I continued breeding my beloved Rex, and still went to the London and Bradford shows to socialise. It wasn't until 1982 I started back on the show trail again. Winning at my local shows in Essex and Kent and enjoying the odd saunter up North, culminating in winning BIS at the Southern Champs in 1990. I also had Silvers and Havanas then too, winning several BIS with those aswell, doing the TREBLE, best Fancy, Fur and Rex, at same show.
