| A poor but fillial son Chenxiang lived with his drunkard and gambler father, Liu Yong. He was told that his mother had died of sickness when he was still very young and both father and son depend on each other all these years. Chenxiang led a life a hardships since young and did odd jobs to support his father's bad habits. Fortunately, Aunt Piao Piao who is Liu Yong's long time friend would help them in times of needs. One day, Chenxiang met a well-known demon subduer, Master Tian Lei and his daughter, Tian Rui and wanted to learn under him. Seeing his sincerity, Master Tian accepted Chenxiang as his disciple. Being a demon subduer, Master Tian is also an ingenious inventor and his dream was to study the legendary Lotus Lantern said to be lost in the mortal world after the heavenly goddess, San Sheng Mu who looks after the lantern brought it with her to the mortal world in search for true love and later was punished and banished in Mount Hua. Since young, Chenxiang often dreamt of a lady in red, carrying a lantern to meet him. Though he felt very close to her but he don't know who she is or remember her face. Taxue, a fairy from heaven was given the task to search for the long lost lantern and in return, she will be promoted to the rank of a deity. On the day she reached the mortal world, she met Chenxiang and Tian Rui and saved them from a demon. She told Chenxiang about her task and he agreed to help her look for the lantern. As the lotus lantern has time-travelling powers, he hopes to return to the past to see his mother and Taxue agreed. With the help from Master Tian, they finally found the lantern and brought Chenxiang and Taxue 22 years back into the past. There, they met a kind lady, Sanniang who's actually San Sheng Mu in disguise. She kindly took them in to live with her since they have nowhere to live. Sanniang was in love with a talented scholar, Liu Yanchang and decided to be with him forever. She returned to heaven to see her 2nd elder brother, Er Lang Shen to return the lantern and seek his blessing but they got into a fierce fight instead. As Taxue spent more time with Chenxiang, she started having feelings she can't explain. Being a fairy, she doesn't know the feelings and lifestyle a mortal have. Chenxiang begin to realise that Yanchang is his father, the present Liu Yong as he resembles Liu Yong greatly but Chenxiang can't understand why he became a drunkard. After Taxue found out that Sanniang was actually San Sheng Mu, they tried to stop them from being together as love between a mortal and immortal will be greatly punish by heaven, but while doing so, both of them were brought back to the present. This time, together with Tian Rui, they tried going back again but were brought to the wrong time, that is 21 years back. By then, it was already too late as Sanniang was already pregnant. Since the lotus lantern was still with Sanniang, they tried to steal it and found Master Tian of that time to help them work the lantern. As Master Tian of that time wasn't very experienced, he can only bring one person back into time and they know that if Chenxiang manage to stop his parents from being together, he would eventually vanish from this world. Before he was brought back, he requested Taxue to bring him flying in the sky before he leaves this world and both of them had an unforgettable time. This time, with the help from young Master Tian, Chenxiang was brought to the future when he was 3 years old instead of to the past. That time, San Sheng Mu was already trapped in Mount Hua and Yanchang had already become a drunkard. Knowing that Chenxiang had gone back to rewrite history, Sanniang brought him back and both of them acknowledge eachother as mother and son. As Tian Rui was secretly in love with Chenxiang, she tried to do many things to please him but just don't seem to get his attention and he was only concern about Taxue. Tian Rui tried to convince herself to regard him as a big brother. After Sanniang questioned him, he admitted that he's in love with Taxue. Taxue now knows the meaning of love but is still afraid that both of them may end up like Chenxiang's parents. Finally, Sanniang's child was born, that is, little Chenxiang. When Chenxiang and Tian Rui saw little Chenxiang's cradle rocking on its own, Ta Xue explained that since he's the son of Sanniang, he is a half-immortal and also has magic powers. Thus, Taxue begin to give Chenxiang magic lessons. Soon, everyone knows that Er Lang Shen will be coming down to get Sanniang and she passed little Chenxiang to be under the care of Piao Piao. But Er Lang Shen still manage to find the baby and use it to threaten Sanniang to accept heaven's punishment. She had no choice but to leave with Er Lang Shen to ensure little Chenxiang's safety. This time, Chenxiang, Taxue and Tian Rui were brought back to the present and Chenxiang wanted to save his mother trapped in Mount Hua. To do so, he had to get Er Lang Shen's weapon and turn it into an axe to destroy the mountain. With Taxue, both of them went up to heaven for their task but was caught by Er Lang Shen. Taxue tried to distract Er Lang Shen to let Chenxiang escape. Though Chenxiang managed to escape, he was very worried for Taxue, afraid that she would be harmed by Er Lang Shen. Finally, Master Tian had made the axe and with Chenxiang's magical powers, he went up to save Taxue from Er Lang Shen and later, managed to save his mother from Mount Hua. His fillial piety had moved heaven and Sanniang was allowed to reunite with her family but Taxue had to be called back to heaven to receive punishment for falling in love with a mortal and defying heaven. Chenxiang tried to plead with Queen Mother but to no avail. Although he is happy that his mother has finally return and he now has a complete family but he would always think of Taxue and will always wait for her return........ |
