The black-footed south african penguin weighs about 6.4 pounds and is about 27.5 inches tall.
They live in South and Southwest Africa. They eat crustaceans and fish.
African penguins have a broad black band that runs in an inverted horseshoe shape around
their front. Their chest is dotted with a few black spots in random pattern. They breed on the
coast of South Africa. Usually the nests are built under bushes. Two eggs are laid. Incubation
takes 38 to 41 days. The chicks are raised and guarded for 40 days and can go out on their own
after they are 70 to 100 days old. Their predators are: Dominican gulls, sacred ibis, skuas,
octopusses, and sharks.
