Learning to let go.....
Henry looked up out the window. It was a very beautiful day. And days like today reminded Henry of Rika. His beautiful and lovely girlfriend. They have been going out for almost two years now. And next week was their anniversary. Henry was thinking of what to get Rika. Last year he got her a necklace and a card. This year he wanted it to be special. He loved Rika so much! so much that it wasn't even funny. When they first fell in love with each other. Henry couldn't believe it. Neither could Rika. Just as Henry was almost asleep his mother came into the room not looking to happy.
"Mom?" Asked Henry. "Is something wrong?"
"Actully...there is." She sighed.
"What?" he asked. What could it be? Henry hoped it wasn't something important.
"Well....i just got off the phone with Rikas mother......"
Henry then jumped to his feet. "Is something wrong with Rika?!" He yelled. "Tell me!"
"She's in the hospital Henry." His mother told him sadly. "And it doesn't look good."
"What happened?!" Henry said in tears.
"They don't know yet......all they know is Rika is very, very sick."
"Can we go and see her?" Henry begged. "Please?"
"Of course. Get your coat."
Henry nodded and ran off to get his jacket.

Hospital.....
Rikas room.
When Henry came into the room he saw Rika had a breathing mask on. Her mother left the room crying followed by Rikas Grandmother. Henry hoped he wasn't too late. He rushed to her bed side and felt her pulse. She was still alive. Henry sighed in deep relief. But he knew that just because she was still breathing did not mean she was going to be alright. If the doctors didn't know what was wrong then how did he know she would be ok? no....Henry had to have faith! Rika was going to be fine! no matter what! she was going to be fine! besides their anniversary was next week. Rika couldn't leave before their anniversary! could she?
"Rika...." He whispered. "Please.....wake up."
Nothing.
Rika just laid there. Her skin pale as white paint. (A/N : Well....not THAT pale....)
Her lips were blue. She must be cold. So Henry grabbed another blanket from the bed next to her and put it on top of her.
"That should keep your warm...." He rubbed her hand. It felt so cold....
Outside of Rikas room Rika and Henry's mother watched sadly.
"Mrs. Nonaka?" The doctor asked walking up to her.
"Yes Doctor? is my little Rika going to be okay?"
" Well it doesn't look good. Your daughters chances of living are very slim."
"Do you know what's wrong with her?" Mrs. Nonaka asked crying again.
"Well...Rika has something in her blood. We think it might be a new kind of cancer...were not really sure yet...but its interfering with her heart and lungs. It this keeps up and reaches her brain this could be deadly."
"Oh no!" Mrs. Nonaka cried.
"Don't cry dear." Makkinos mother said softly as she pulled her into a hug. "I'm sure Rika will be fine."

Henry over heard the doctor talking and started to cry himself. ' Rika.....don't leave me.' he sobbed. ' please....i love you.'
" Henry..........." Whispered a weak voice.
"Rika!" Henry shot his head up to see Rika looking up at him. "Your okay!"
"I don't feel okay....." She whispered. "I'm in so much pain...."
Henry kissed her hand softly. "Don't worry....your going to be just fine."
"Henry.......your crying." She reached her hand towards his face and wiped his tears away.
"When my mom said you were in the hospital i was so worried." He sniffed. "I love you."
"I love you too....." She smiled weakly.
"Okay okay!" The doctor rushed in. "I'm sorry young man but you have to leave. We need to run more tests."
"No more tests!" Rika screamed weakly. "NO MORE!!! HENRY!!" Rika reached her hand out towards Henry as a bunch of doctors crowded around Rika.
In tears Henry reached his hand out towards her but was pushed out by another doctor. "Okay out! out!"
"Hey!" Henry yelled. "Rika!" He banged on the door. He could hear Rika screaming and screaming. It was like they were killing her!
"RIKA!!!!!!"
Henry!" His mother ran to her son pulling him into a hug. "Don't.....let them do their job." she told Henry softly.
"But......their hurting her...." Henry cried. "She needs me."
"I know honey.....but their trying to help Rika...not hurt her."
Henry just cried and cried. If Rika died he didn't know what he would do! things didn't look good at all.....

Next day....
Saturday....
2:30 PM
Henry sat by Rikas bed side and handed her a dozen red roses and a box of candy.
"Henry....*cough*....how sweet of you." She sniffed the roses. "They smell lovely."
"I'm glad you like them." Henry smiled.
"Henry....."
"Yes?"
"When i die......."
"Rika! don't say that! your not going to die!" Henry yelled in tears. "Your going to be fine...."
"Henry....." She whispered.
"Shhh....." He kissed her forehead.
"I hope i get out of here..." She smiled weakly.
"I hope you do too." He wiped his tears and smiled back.
"Henry.....if i do die......would you start dating someone else?"
"No! i would never have the heart to date again." Henry told her. "I love you! your my soul mate! just you wait! one day when we grow up well get married and have a family."
"You think so?"
"I know so!" Henry took her hand and kissed it.
Rika chuckled but then it turned into a cough.
"Oh Henry....." She started to cry. "I'm so scared!....i don't want those doctors to do anymore tests!"
"I will make sure they wont!" Henry tighten his fists but then remember something his mother told him. "Hmm....."
"What is it?" Rika asked him. "You have an idea?"
"Rika.....i cant stop the doctors from doing those tests....."
"Why not?" She coughed.
"Because their trying to help you. My mom told me that when they were doing tests on you yesterday."
Henry put his hand on her cheek and she put her hand on his hand.
"You feel so cold....."
"I know...." Rika coughed. "I feel really cold."
"Just think how much i love you and that will keep you all warm inside."
"Ok...." Rika smiled. "I will."
"Henry!" His mother called to him. "Doctor says you need to come on out."
"No.....NO!" Rika sobbed. "Don't leave me! don't!"
Henry put his hand around her shoulders and pulled her close as he could. "Don't be scared....." He whispered to her. "Forget about all those doctors....and think about us....about me."
"I love you........." She cried.
"I love you too....."

Sunday.....
12:30 PM
Hospital.....
"Any improvement?" The doctor asked the Nurse who was taking Rikas temperature.
The Nurse took the thermometer out of Rikas mouth and shook her head sadly. "Its just getting worse doctor." The Nurse replied softly.
"Did you give Rika her shot yet?"
The Nurse nodded. "Yes Doctor."
"You just get some rest Rika. Your mother will be here later on today." And with that the Doctor left.
"Nurse Diana?" Asked Rika.
"Yes honey?" She smiled.
"I'm going to die arnt i?"
The Nurse didn't say anything. So she just stood up and walked out. "I got some work to do....cya Rika."
Rika sighed. Maybe it was true....she was going to die.

1:30 PM
Henry was just walking by when he saw the doctors talking in one of the small offices So he peaked in on them to see what was up.
"How did it go Diana?" The doctor asked.
"I'm very worried doctor Rika has been asking more and more questions...so i just walked out on her."
"I know its hard...." The doctor sighed. "But Rika has the right to know."
"To know?....what do you mean?"
The Doctor looked up sadly at the confused Nurse. "I cant do anything for her......"
The Nurse gasped in shock. "But....shes such a sweet girl."
"I know.....but i just cant do anything more for her....."
Henry could feel his heart pumping like mad. His tears falling....Rika his true love was going to die! it....it just couldn't be!
"Rika......." He cried. "No....."

"Hey Rika...." Henry smiled weakly walking into the room. "I...I brought you some roses."
"Oh Henry......" She sniffed. "Their so beautiful!"
"Just like you are...." Henry smiled handing them to her.
"Oh Henry...your so sweet..." She smelled the roses.
"I tried to get a hold of Takato and the others but there in summer camp right now."
"Its okay.....as long as your here."
"Heh....thanks."
"Say Henry...."
"Yeah?"
"These roses are kinda like me....."
"Your right." Henry smiled. "Their beautiful they smell sweet...."
"And their going to die...."
"Huh?" Henrys eyes widen.
"Just like me....." Rika started to cry.
"Rika......" Henry pulled her into a hug. "Your....your not gonna die." Henry was in tears. "Be brave....for me."
"I......" Rika sobbed.
Henry just held her rocking her back and forth.....back.....and forth.

Tuesday........
9:30 AM
Beep.......beep.........beep..........beep........
Rika was so sick now she was hooked up to all kinds of machines and cords.
"How much more time does she have....." Mrs. Nonaka asked crying.
"Were not sure.....we thought she would of died by now....but its like shes refusing to accpet her faith." The doctor sighed. "Were not really sure."
Just then Henry came out of Rikas room crying as well. "Poor Rika...." He sighed.
Mrs Nonaka then rushed in to see her.
"You love her alot?" The doctor asked.
"Yes....with all my heart." Henry replied sadly. "Rika said shes going to be brave for me."
"Hmmm...i see....what else?"
"Thats pretty much it...i hope she doesn't die.....our anniversary is tomorrow."
"Well i have to get back to work." The doctor
pat Henry on the head and walked in to talk with Mrs. Nonaka.

7:30 PM
Henry was sitting by Rikas bed side holding her hand when his mother came in and sat beside him. "Hey Henry...how you doin?"
"Not good...." Henry sighed.
"Honey...i talked with the doctor and....."
"Yeah?"
"Well Henry......you have to learn to let go."
"HUH?!" Henry shot his head up at his mother. "What do you mean!"
"Rika is still alive because she loves you and doesn't want you to be sad. Henry....shes in alot of pain she's been trying very hard to stay alive for you...."
Slience......
"Henry....you have to let Rika accept her faith...."
"I.....I cant!" Henry sobbed. "I love her too much....."
"I know honey.....but think about Rika....think how much pain she is in."
Henry wiped his tears and looked at Rika. Her eyes were slightly open. She gave Henry a very weak smile. She could barely talk now.
Henry sighed deeply. He knew his mother was right.
"Give me some time alone with her."
His mother kissed his cheek and walked out.
"Rika....." He said softly. "Baby...can you hear me?"
"Henry....." She said in a low whisper.
"Rika....." He took a deep breath. "Let go."
"Huh?" She looked very confused.
He put his hand on her cheek. "Let go....go to sleep.....and wake up in the new after life.....your in alot of pain and the only way to make it stop is to.......let go." Henry said crying. "Don't fight it because of me.....let go."
"I will always love you......" She whispered and shut her eyes for the very last time.
Henry then broke out in tears. "RIKA!" He yelled. "I love you......"
He kissed her pale, cold cheek and left her.

Later that night at 12 midnight Rika passed away. Henry didn't do so well at the funeral a week later. He had been crying the whole time. His cheeks were never dry.....always wet from warm tears. Rika was his first and true love. And now she was gone....he couldn't believe it. And when Jeri and the others came back from camp they couldn't believe it either. All Henry did was stay in his room and never eat or sleep. Just cry and cry. It was 8:56 PM and Henry was laying on his bed thinking about Rika and how they fell in love.
FLASH BACK!
"Here Rika...." Henry said shyly handing her a Lilly flower. "This is for you."
"Its so beautiful! thank you....."
"Heh.....um Rika?"
"Yeah?"
"Will you uhh......um......well......"
"Im waiting." Rika taped her foot.
"Will you go out with me?"
"W..What?" she asked surprised.
"Will you go out with me." He asked again blushing.
"I would love too." She smiled.
"YES!!!!!!" Henry jumped into the air. "I mean......*ahem* Great."
Rika giggled.

And their first kiss......

"The moon sure is beautiful....." Rika smiled.
"Yeah...whenever you come to the beach at night it always is...."
"Heh...yeah." Rika chuckled. "Henry this night has been wonderful...thank you."
Henry smiled. He then slightly tilted his head and Rika did the same as they met in a kiss filled with lots of passion. They never wanted this night to end.

Henry sighed and turned the radio on , and put in a tape
that had their favorite song on it. Henry laid back down on his bed
and let the music play......

"Rika........" Tears fell down his face. "Come back to me.....i cant live with out you."
Then Henry felt a very cold breeze. He must of left the window open again. So he got up and walked towards the window to shut it.
' Thats weird....' he thought. ' its closed.'
He shrugged and then turned around and went as pale as a ghost.
" R-R-R-R-Rika!!....." He shuttered.
She was wearing a tight white gown that went all the way past her knees. and she had beautiful white wings.
"Hey....." She smiled. "Don't worry i'm not here to haunt you."
"Rika.....i miss you so much."
"I miss you too....."
"Please.....come back to me."
"I wish i could.....but i cant. God says it was my time."
"He was wrong!" Henry fell to his knees. "I love you.....come back."
"Oh Henry......" She floated over to were he was and kneeled in front of him. "Please don't cry."
"I cant help it......i miss you so much!" He cried. "I want to be with you!"
"And i want to be with you...." She kissed his cheek. "Please.....don't cry."
"Your so cold...." Henry put his hand where she kissed him.
"Yeah well....." Rika glanced to her side.
"Rika what was it like to die?"
"Its hard to explain.....but when your time comes you will know."
"Then well be together again."
"Right....." Rika smiled. "Together...."
"I love you....."
"I love you too Henry Wong." Rika smiled sweetly. "Always have.....and always will. I'm your gurdian angel..."
"I'm glad." He wiped his tears. "Will you come and see me again?"
"Yes....i will." She put a hand on his cheek.
Rika then backed up. "I must go for now........my love."
"Rika........" He whispered.
Then she disappeared smiling.
"I love you......." He then shut his eyes smiling. "My love."
