Mission Statement

L.I.G.H.T., which is an acronym for Learning In God's Holiness Together, is a support group for both new and veteran homeschoolers serving the areas of Barrow, Gwinnett, Walton, Jackson and sorrounding areas.  We are an all-inclusive group, meaning that we do not discriminate or require that you sign a statement of faith to join.  The majority of our members are Christians, however we welcome members of all faiths.  The purpose of L.I.G.H.T. is to provide opportunities for academic, spirital, and social growth for our children through coopertive classes, field trips, parties, play dates, etc.  Parents gain support, encouragement and understanding through the comradre of other homeschool teachers and are provided with information on  the latest news, events, laws, and anything else pertaining to homeschooling.
Come on out and meet us at Dacula Park noon on Tuesdays.  You'll find us on the playground near the lake.  Bring lunch if you want!  During cold and inclement weather, we meet at Dacula Burger King's indoor playground.  All homeschoolers welcome!

Interested in joining?
Download and print our membership application, waiver and code of conduct  from the links in the boxes below. Simply return these completed  either by mail or at one of  our  meetings.

We do not charge any dues to join our group.  We have a pay-as-you-participate policy.  This means that if there is a fee for an activity you are interested in, the money for that activity will be collected,and/ or your family will be responsible for bringing needed supplies for that event.

What are co-op classes?

Co-op stands for cooperative.  A group of parents and children meet together in a central location once a week.  During this time, parents volunteer to teach or help out classes in which they have knowledge or an interest in sharing.   The children are divided into ability appropriate groups and/or according to interest.  Some examples of classes that might be offered are foreign language, art, p.e., etc.  These classes, though academically stimulating, are offered for enrichment purposes and to provide a chance for the children to socialize in a classroom environment.  There may be a small fee, depending on each teacher's supply needs.  As a member of L.I.G.H.T. you are not obligated to participate in co-op classes.  This, like every activity offered by L.I.G.H.T., is optional.  If you do wish to participate in co-ops, you must committ to teach or help out in at least one class and pitch in and clean up the facility after ourselves.  You also need to have at least one school-age child (5 or older) to participate.  If you are interested in starting a co-op in the Winder or Dacula area in January, please e-mail us at LIGHThsg@aol.com
