In my family it almost was...
All of the woman in my family do one form of needle work or another, I am the one keeping tatting alive and well. I have only two examples of my Grandma's tatting, a piece of lace and a dresser scarf.
I began needle tatting in 1998 after seeing it demonstraded on a craft show. I bought tatting needles and a ball of thread for myself as a mother's day gift. In 1999 my sister and I took a shuttle tatting class at the Creative Needle store in Denver, Colorado. Needle tatting is my passion, but I do occasionally shuttle tat and I have a growing collection of shuttles.
