I have been asked on numerous occasions if I know of others who have had this laser surgery and yes, I am happy to say that my life has been greatly enriched by the many friendships I have developed through the comaraderie of this laser surgery. I have contacted and am in contact with many who have had or are interested in having laser resection by Dr. Rolle. Including the family who introduced me to this procedure. Hello, I am the author of this site and currently hold a record that no one wants to hold. I had 269 bilateral lung mets from Leiomyosarcoma removed having both lungs operated five weeks apart with this laser surgery in July and September of 2005. Prior to surgery I had no hope for living much longer with the avalanche of new lung mets. Now, because of this surgery at the Fachkrankenhaus (specialty hospital) in Germany I have a better quality of life and new hope for much more time with my family. I feel less anxiety knowing I have this procedure available should I need it again, and great hope for others having all types of cancer in the lung who with Dr. Rolle's laser technique can also enjoy life longer and stronger. From the day I entered the hospital to the day I left after my second lung surgery, I was treated with courtesy, compassion and professionalism. It was at times frustrating that I was unable to communicate with some staff members because of the language barrier, however, being a registered nurse, I knew the care I was receiving to be appropriate to the situation and was both impressed and confident in their level of skill. Many of the medications had names different than in the states but a Google search by my husband cleared that up for me. Dr. Rolle is the most compassionate physician I have ever met and his skill and dedication to this laser technique are indescribable. He truly desires to help those with lung tumors to have a quality of life his lung sparing surgery provides.
