Hospital's Pension:
My personal first choice for proximity to the hospital, amenities and price, is the hospitals very own pension on the grounds. It is located on the third floor of the administration building- no elevator. Rooms are usually booked six weeks in advance. The pension consists of rooms for up to five families, each bedroom is off the main hall and has a doorlock with key. A full kitchen and reading room is open to all guests. Three of the rooms are for singles at 18 euro a night and two are for double occupancy at 25euro a night. Towels included, no washcloth. Laundry facilities at the hospital can be used for 3.50 euro a load wash/dry. The hospital cafeteria is open through the lunch hour or it is possible to buy groceries and cook in the pensions kitchen. A bus stop is just outside the hospital grounds which we found convenient for getting around town.
Bauernstube/Ratspension (city center pension):
This is located 700m from the hospital on Hauptstrasse (mainstreet). A short walk or a bus ride will get you to the hospital within 15 minutes. The pension is located above the Möbel Haus Heinze Furniture store with the restaurant being next door. Hauptstrasse is alive with people in the spring and summer. A nice location to pick up those extras you forgot to bring, or some fresh fruit. A new train stop was built close by for travel into the neerby towns and Dresden. The new manager of the pension also runs the restaurant. Room keys are picked up and breakfast reservations are made with Werner inside the restaurant. Room rates are 37euro for two and 27 single, includes breakfast. The ceilings in the room have a slant on one wall because of the roof line, the beds are comfortable and the room's bathroom very clean and nice. There is no refridgerator, phone nor air conditioning.
The Borse:
This pension is just across the street from the bauernstube. I have not seen the rooms however I have eaten breakfast in the dining room and it was very clean and typical. Beakfast is included in the room rates. Single/with one bed 40 euro. Double/with one bed 50 euro. Double beds 65 euro.
The Pension Alt-Coswiger Hof:
I have not toured this pension on Hauptstrasse however it offers tour bus excursions and room for large families . Prices on the link.
The Am Talkenberger Hof:
This pension is located 600m on the other side of the hospital nestled in a vinyard on a slight hill. It is a short walk to the hospital if you walk through an apartment complex and in the back gate of the hospital grounds. Single 32 euro. Double 50 euro. I have only seen the outside of the pension and the web site. It looks very quaint and inviting.
