April's Other Adventures

Leiman, Germany
We walked around in Leiman.  This is a big beer brewery with it's copper stills.
This looks like part of an old castle, but with newer architecture built around it.
Silas (and a bit of Cera too) standing in front of a little car that April liked.
Silas with his walking stick.
Mannheim, Germany
The Rosengarten in the center of Mannheim.  Weddings and other formal events take place here.
This is April standing next to this walkway.  If you enlarge this picture, you might be able to see Mark on the left.
The steps leading up to the tower in the picture to the right.  You can see the limo from a wedding that was taking place here.
Mark and Cera in front of the tower.
Another view of the Rosengarten, or Rose Garden, with tulips growing this time of the year.
This is funny...the fountains started turning on and off.  We told the kids to step on the grass to make the fountains turn back on.  JUST at the moment they stepped up here, the fountains turned on!  They really thought they had done it.
Going up in the Heidelberg Mountains.
There is an observation tower on top of one mountain.  This is Mark and Rebecca.
Heidelberg and the Neckar River as seen from the observation tower.
A carving that is at the beginning of the trail.
There is a trail that starts near the observation tower.  We went on the via naturae trail.  More pictures below.
A carving of a lizard that Rebecca is reaching toward.  Cera next to her on the bridge.
Silas lying on a hand, April and Cera sitting on one.
April's feet turned to wood and grew HUGE!
Mark standing under the fork of a tree that was placed here upside down.
Cera sitting on the kongistuhl, or King's Seat.
April sitting on an carved eagle bench.
Cera coming out of a tunnel built for kids to play in.
Mark pretending to feed a carved badger
We ate at a restaurant near the observation tower after walking the nature trail.  This is Silas, of course.
April walking up the long, steep path to the top of a mountain on the other side of the Neckar River.
Cera and April at the top of the path.  This area is called Philosopher's Way.  Heidelberg Castle is behind them.
Heidelberg and the castle as seen from Philosopher's Way.
The castle again as seen from the same location.
