| When we first started the Abbey Pointe renovation, it had undergone many years of neglect and abuse. Many apartments, and several entire buildings, had been vacant for some time. It had become a "hangout" for gang members and drug users. Much vandalism and graffiti had occurred, and there was much work to be done to restore this to a liveable apartment complex. Unfortunately, the first step was to finish emptying the apartments. The remaining tennants had to be evicted. It was a sad, but necessary, step. This complex had to undergo so much restoration that it just could not be done with tennants living there. Thanks to the local government agencies in Stockton who assisted with finding new housing for these people. |
