STRESS REDUCTION AND RELAXATION :A Taste of Mindfulnes, Gloria Kamler, M.A.

This talk is an introduction to Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction and Relaxation by Gloria Kamler, a holistic educator and practitioner of the Institute for Self-Integration in Santa Monica ,who has worked with pain and stress relief for 30 years. It is modeled after the University of Massachusetts Medical Center's Stress Reduction Program, developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn Ph.D., and featured in the Bill Moyer's PBS television series, "Healing and the Mind." Being mindful is a means of quieting and calming the mind by paying careful attention to your moment-by-moment experiences in a wholly non-judgmental way. As you practice mindfulness, you learn to gather up your inner resources in order to manage pain, illness and stress.

We meet at the Sherman Oaks Hospital and Grossman Burn Center. Just North of the 101 FWY (exit Van Nuys Blvd.) - in the Doctor's Conference Room. The easiest way is to come in the north entrance to the Hospital on Van Nuys Blvd., which is in the back of the parking lot. There's an office where you can ask directions to the conference room from there.  It’s right next to the gift shop.

All issues associated with RSI -- from Workers' Comp to alternatives to surgery -- are open for discussion at our meetings. We explore solutions for dealing with and healing from these now epidemic injuries. We hope to see you at our next meeting.

Getting here by car:

There's a parking lot right next door (4955 Van Nuys), however, they charge and the hospital will not validate. There's plenty of free parking on the neighboring side streets.
