Gardening Tips

Welcome to my garden page! Before we get into the good stuff, I'll tell you why I'm so into gardening.

It's two very simple words: my mother! She's the one who got me interested in gardening! I'm glad she did too.

Do you ever think of what a thrill it is to see God's creation growing? Isn't it wonderful to know you planted it, and those plants depend on you to grow?

Now, the first thing you need to do is find a spot outside/inside to put your plants. When you think you've found a good spot make sure it has all these things.

Inside:

Some flowers need shade instead of sun, so if you are not sure, ask your local florist.

Another thing you may want to do is make a garden journal.

If you have noticed your plants getting moldy, it's probably because you water your plants at night. You see, if you water them in the morning, they will not get moldy, for the water has time to evaporate.

If you water your plants in the morning and you still notice molding, that's because you're giving them too much water.

Are you going to plant impatients in your garden this year? Well if you are, freeze your seeds for a week before you plant them.

Don't you just wish your roses would last longer? If you want them to, try this little trick! Feed your roses with used deep-fryer oil!

Hey! Do you drink coffee? Mabye you should put your coffee grounds to use. Guess what you can do with them! Fertilize your rose bushes! (And that's no joke.)

Violets, they're so beautiful! To make them last, add a teaspoon of epsom salts in a liter of water. Water your African Violets like this once a month for long lasting beauty.

I just love the smell of sweet peas, don't you? If you put FRESHLY CUT sweet peas in HOT water, your house will be filled with that wonderful fragrance!

When you transplant a tree/shrub, be sure to add half a cup of sugar to the water. This will give the tree/shrub a quick start.

Next time you buy cut flowers, put them in a vase and add these things:

This will make those wonderful flowers last!
