Song
Sparrow
The
Song Sparrow is a very common bird in the Lower Mainland, particularly in
thickets, grassy fields and woodland edges, and backyard feeders.
They are primarily ground feeders, eating fallen seeds.
They are not shy of humans and are easily seen singing from a perch
at the top of shrubbery. As
the name suggests, their songs are pretty, beginning with three or four
loud notes. Their song varies widely between individual birds as well as
locations. This track
consists of songs obtained from four locations -- Coquitlam, Tynehead
Regional Park, Burnaby Lake, and Reifel Bird Sanctuary – with a short
pause between them.
