It must exist, though it eludes my touch.
i've mapped out each centimetre of skin;
numbered my hair, every separate strand.
No fleshy ridge unexplored,
no crevice left untouched by light.
Deep into my heart and mind
a mine shaft to such depths suffocation
stalked my heels.
And i have yet to uncover that thin binding thread
holding this being in "being"...
That i could unravel that seal and fade like mist into air,
like salt dissolved into water,
Erasing the boundary separating me from the Oneness
Holding my spirit captive in this congealed potential mass

i give the water of my body back to the monsoon rains
i return the air of my breath back to the autumn wind
i offer the mineral of my bones back to the mountains scraping the sky
i present the heat of my heart back to the fire seething beneath the earth

i release my nocturnal spirit back to the crescent smile of the moon...

So that i may once again be at peace
