A general explanation and list of the couples I support

Amaya-cupid's page of LOVE!

Dedicated to all those couples out there whose love touches me

In other words people, this page is full of rants on why I think the people I put together should be together.  Just a little warning: If any of thecouples bothers you, or you don't agree with it, be prepared to argue yourpoints with as much thought and insight as I have put in here, or else prepareto face my wrath.  I don't mind others having different coupling opinionsthan I, just so long as those arguments are supported and logical. Andthe argument "but the creator/s put them together" is not acceptable, sorry!  Don't mean to sound mean in what should be such a happy place, but I know that forsome series, most especially Slayers, Coupling biases can spur nasty wars, and, having been the recipient of one or two pointless flames, quite hurtful things,I am only attempting to protect myself. Forewarned IS forearmed, after all!

And now, on with the love!  Bring on the happy bubbly stuff, the warm fuzzies and tender moments!

Megumi & Sanosuke:

What a fun couple these two are!  The rooster and the fox-lady!  Still, there is much more hovering below the surface than simply argumentativeness.  They are from two very differnet levels of society, and yet, circumstance has brought them to a level.  In an era of change, anything is possible, and that includes a rebel-turned-gangster-turned...well...freeloader falling for and even winning a scion of a noble family fallen upon hard times.

Kenshin & Kaoru:

Misao & Aoshi:

Silence and bubbliness, calm and freneticness...you wouldn't think it could work, but in one very real sense, Misao is perfect for Aoshi. After all,he practically raised her, so she knows him fairly well, knows his likes and dislikes, and how to keep him happy.  True, he has changed some due to traumatic events in the past years, but not so much that he is unrecognizable to her.

Saitou & Tokio:

yes, it's the only actually MARRIED couple in Rurouni Kenshin (I don't count Kenshin and Tomoe, because that is a past event, and she is now dead, so technically Kenshin is a widower, not married)

Heero & Duo:

Yes, I know...a commonly popular couple...but they're popular for a reason (besides looking so darned cute together)

Trowa & Quatre:

Wufei and Meiran:
Yes, surprisingly enough, I am not one of those yaoi fans who insist on yaoi pairings all through the G-boys...after all, they are all individuals, entitled to their own soulmates, and I simply don't agree that what might be between Wufei and Zechs, or Wufei and Treize, or even all three, is the behavior and spiritualintimacy of a soulmate.  Now I don't argue that such relationships are not possible.  It has long been known that soldiers in war will accept comfort and pleasure where they can, but those relationships rarely last after the war, even if both partners survive.  Once the desperate situation ends, the partners hold too many memories to even be near each other.  Wufei and Meiran, on the other hand, had what could have been a lasting and loving relationship.  Their main stumbling block was their age.  Teenage angst is not the most open environment for marital bliss, especially between two stubborn people forced into a situation neiter had anticipated with a person they didn't even know previous to being married.  It is one thing to be told as a child of an arranged engagement and given time to accept it, and it is quite another to be thrust into the situation with no warning.  As an example, look at Ranma and Akane from Ranma 1/2.  they also fight constantly, but under that fighting is true love.  the same applies to Wufei and Meiran, it's only that their situation did not end as happily, and only in their lsat moments together did they realize the truth of their feelings.

 Meiran

Kurama & Hiei:

Could a couple BE more cute?  Not too likely.  I know there are somepeople out there who think that Kurama should be with Botan...but VERY FEW.  Right from the outset, it's pretty obvious there are some feelings going onbetween these two.  Whether those feelings are love in the beginning isdebatable, but they are definitely leading that way, if they are not there already.  Hiei, although he would never admit it, is, at least in part, still emotionally an abandoned child looking for acceptance and love, and Kurama can see this.  Of all the Reikai Tantei, Kurama is the one who seems to make excuses for Hiei and/or explain his behavior, although what in his own past brings him the understanding to do this is better not contemplated.  Whatever his past was, Kurama's attitudes and feelings underwent a major change when he was reborn into the human body of Shuuichi.  Most likely, had they met before this, the two would perhaps be able to work together, but without Kurama's open heart, the relationship would have gone no furthur.  Hiei would certainly never be the one to initiate a relationship beyond the most superficial working partnership, even if he had such feelings.  As it stands, though, Kurama is able to draw Hiei out, and Hiei adds spice and excitement to Kurama's lif, as well as being the one person in his life who loves him unconditionally AND knows the truth about him. Even though his mother likely would love him just as much if she knew the truth, he is far too frightened of the consequences to tell her, and even if he did, she is hardly likely to totally understand the Youko part of her son.  Hiei, on the other hand, being a Youkai, is perfectly able to understand the impulses and attitudes of Kurama's Youko side, even if he doesn't totally understand his human side.

Yui & Suboshi:

Yes, I know, an unusual pair...the conventional pair is, of course, Yui and Tetsuya.  However, I think Suboshi's devotion to Yui is sincere.  In fact, I believe that for each Miko, there is one Seishi who is meant for her, and in Yui's case, I believe this to be Suboshi.  Had matters not occurred the way they did, with Yui being tied for a time to Miaka in the book, during the time when Miaka's feelings for Tamahome were beginning to grow, and had it not been for the maligning influence of Tenkou, it is likely that Yui would have much sooner realized her own feelings for Suboshi, rather than comingto them only after his death.  Strangely, both of the couples I have chosenfrom Fushigi Yuugi were Seiryuu, and both doomed...I believe truly, though, that Yui and Suboshi make a good pair, and not enough people out there recognizethem.

Ryouga & Ukyou:

Why these two?  Why not Ryouga with Akari and Ukyou with Konatsu or evenTsubasa?  Well, for one thing, I just can't see Ryouga getting all thatserious with  Akari...that whole pig thing is, well, just strange.  Sure, it's nice that he has someone who accepts him curse and all, but one gets the sense that she actually PREFERS his curse...and that's not really a good thing.  He needs someone who cares about him for something OTHER than a curse which he feels ruined (or helped ruin) his life.  Besides, haven't we already seen what problems engagements arranged by certain strict rules can cause?  (Eg. Shampoo and Ranma)  As for Ukyou with either of the femboys...come on now.  What is this, "Put them together because they're both cross dressers"?  Now, granted I think it's kinda cute, but still...it's very superficial, and I like a lot of depth in relationships. Rather, I put Ryouga and Ukyou together.  Both know life on the road, and both are fairly stubborn.  (well, okay, I'll admit MOST of the characters in Ranma 1/2are stubborn, but...)  Additionally, I think that Ukyou deserves an upstanding fellow like Ryouga.  Sure, he has his faults (which we're not going into here...I don't REALLY want my page Shi Shi Hokodan-ed) but for all that, he has a strong sense of Honour, and a real devotion to those he cares about...even to those he considers his "enemies" such as Ranma.  On Ryouga's side,Ukyou would be good for him as well.  She has the same stubborn willas him, but despite the difficulties she has gone through in her life, she maintained a reasonably happy and upbeat attitude, something which Ryouga needs in his life to counter his own depression.  She could probably draw him out of his shell, since she is such a warm and affectionate person. Instead of simply adoring him the way Akari seems to, she can support and counterbalance him.  All in all, a couple I can definitely see becoming very close and devoted to each other.
As for the Ranma and Akane connections...come on people, we all know they are meant to be together.

Shampoo & Mousse:

At first, I didn't really think much of this couple, but after some serious thinking one night (after reading a wonderful fanfic), something came to me,and it changed my view of them forever.  For Shampoo to marry, she mustbe defeated in battle, and it is highly unlikely that Mousse would ever dothis, Not because he's physically incapable of it, in fact, he probably is,but since he is too horribly appalled at the thought of ever hurting her...this we know.  Now, what does that really say abut Mousse?  That he loves her?  Undoubtedly to us it suggests that, but to her?  Raised in a society where children are taught from an early age that for a man to marry a woman he mustdefeat her?  To Shampoo, his declaration of his love coupled with his refusal to fight her properly must be highly confusing.  She must wonder "Does he reallymean what he says, if he can't show it in the way he should?" In that situation, perhaps part of her so vehemently "courting" Ranma could be meant to act as a goad to Mousse, to try to make him jealous enough to show his feelings in that one way he seems to refuse to do...to prove his sincerity to her.  Likely if this is her agenda, Cologne doesn't know...after all, SHE, at least,is serious about bringing Ranma "into the fold" as it were. I believe, however, that despite his handicap, Mousse would be a much better match for Shampoo in the long run. Shampoo marrying Ranma might make the Clan Elders happy,as it would bring in strong new blood to a limited gene pool, but she is an Amazon female, used to having her way in a matriarchal society, and Ranma isthe product of a paternalistic and patriarchal society...and definitely used to the idea that in marriage he would have HIS way.  Because of this, it is highly likely that if they ever married, the fights over the tiniest pointsof dominance would slowly escalate to the point of what could become spousal abuse, on either side.  Yes, Ranma and Akane fight, but their fights are reasonably short-lived and not that vicious, and they have the same cultural expectations of their roles.  Cross-cultural marriages can work, and often do, but they require a lot more understanding and flexibility than Ranma or Shampoo possess. With Mousse, Shampoo would have someone who understands her and cares for her; someone whose role expectations match hers, and a devoted companion and lifemate...if he could just get his act together and fight her properly! Stupid Duck-boy.

Inu-Yasha & Kagome:

Miroku & Sango:

Yes, I am talking about the slightly perverted priest settling down here…as much as that is possible.  Miroku’s problem, while not unique in the universe, certainly comes in an unusual way.  After all, it is, unfortunately, not that uncommon for a person toknow they have only a limited period of time left to live, and to feel, because of this, an increased drive to enjoy what bits of life they can before their life is over.  Of course, most people don’thave a black hole in their hand which is ever-so-slowy sucking them in…-_-;;;

Hitomi & Van:

These two are meant to be together...literally.  Destiny played a large part in their meeting, and for all that people tried to change thatdestiny, therewas no changing it.  Even if Hitomi doesn't realize rightaway what isgoing on, she soon comes to understand.

Tsukushi & Doumyouji:

At the beginning of this series, I, as I was probably intended to, couldn't stand Doumyouji...he came across as the typical bully, abusing his wealth, power, and position for his own fun, but as time wore on, I came to see a different side of him...a side which Tsukushi also begins to see. Hiding behind that "bad" gruff exterior is a lonely boy who is really very devoted to those he cares for, and jaded about relationships and the world in general.

Access & Fin:

Access is so sweet and devoted to Fin, it's truly touching.

Hayama & Sana:

Little miss hyper-genki doesn't immediately come to mind when thinking of who to put with the somber and rebellious Hayama, but the two of them together is good for both.  Hayama is calmer around her, and she, once she understands a little about him, genuinely cares about him and tries to pull him out of hisfunks.

Yakumo & Pai:

Kyle and Yuuri:

Well, you've probably never even heard of these two, they're from a Manga called Sora wa Akai Kawa no Hotori (Lit. The Other Side of Heaven's Red River)
