This instrument is 9" in diameter and 2" deep.  It is a single headed frame drum.  It is made of wood with an animal skin head.  It has 13 sets of jingles arranged into two rows.

This instrument was purchased in Papua New Guinea, but it was imported from another country.  Within Papua New Guinea, it is primarily used by groups of women who perform patterns in church services to accompany the worship music.

The classification is 211.311
Kundu Drum from Papua New Guinea

This instrument is 1'8" tall and 7" wide.  It is made of a single piece of wood carved into the handle and the hourglass shaped body of the drum.  The head is made from snake skin stretch over the opening and glued.  The opposite end is open.

This drum was purchased from a street vendor in Lae, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea.  I do not know the specific people group it is associated with, but drums like this one are used throughout the country for important ceremonies.

The classification is 221.241.1
