PROFICIENCY BADGES
Civil Defence Badge

A)
Description

The Civil Defence Badge is made of metal and is of a circular shape with a diameter of 3 cm. It consists of the Civil Defence logo in the centre ("CD" in red on a dark blue triangle) with the words " CIVIL DEFENCE PROFICIENCY BADGE " encircling it.

B)
Positioning

This Badge will be worn directly above the left pocket of your shirt and will take precedence over the Marksmanship, Campcraft and Safety First Badges.

C)
Qualifying Requirements

This badge may be awarded to a cadet of at least Sec 3 level who has passed the tests on the following topics  :-.

                              i.
Basic Fire Fighting  (Practical)
                               
                                 1) Triangle of Combustion
                                 2) Classification of Fire
                                 3) Methods of Extinguishing Fire by cooling, smothering and starvation
                                
                             ii.
Basic Rescue (Practical)

                                1) Single Human Crutch
                                2) Double Human Crutch
                                3) Fireman's Lift
                                4) Two-handed seat
                                5) Three-handed seat
                                6) Four-handed seat
                                7) Fore and aft
                                8) Pick a Back
                                9) Chair


                            iii.
Basic First Aid (Practical)
                               
                                 1) Causes, types and dangers of wounds
                                 2) Arm and triangular dressing
                                 3) Dressing of wound with First Aid
                                 4) Dressing and triangular bandage
                                 5) Control of Haemorrhage by Direct Pressure and its treatment
                                
                            iv.
Evacuation (Oral)
                                1) Principles for general evacuation, guidelines and rules
                                2) Methods and procedures of evacuation from affected areas and damaged buildings


Adventure Training Badge

A)
Description

The Adventure Training Badge is made of metal and is of circular shape with a diameter of 3 cm. The picture depicts a cadet on a land expedition encircled by the words - " NPCC PROFICIENCY BADGE - ADVENTURE TRAINING  ".

B)
Positioning

This badge will be worn directly above the left pocket of your shirt and should take precedence over the Life-saving, Anti-Drug Abuse, Civil Defence, Marksmanship, Campcraft and Safety First Badges.

C)
Qualifying Requirements

This badge may be awarded to a cadet of at least Sec 3  level who is the holder of the Campcraft Badge and who has passed the following tests conducted annually in March at Unit level :-

                              i.
Be able to tie the following Knots :-

                                1) Fireman's Chair
                                2) Timber Hitch
                                3) Fisherman's Knot
                                4) Highwayman's Hitch
                                                               
                             ii.
Be able to do the following lashings :-
                                                      
                                1) Square Lashing
                                2) Diagonal Lashing

                            iii. Know how to organise and lead a land expedition

                            iv. Be able to swim 25 metres

                            v. Be able to pitch a basha
                          
                            vi. Be able to organise a campfire
                          
                           vii.
Be able to identify and treat :-
                                1) insect stings
                                2) snake bites
                                3) simple fracture
                                4) bleeding

                         
Anti-Drug Abuse Badge

A) Description

The Anti-Drug Abuse Badge is made of metal and is of a circular shape with a diameter of 3 cm. It consists of :-

                            i. Two circles one on top of the other, in the centre of the badge. The top circle is in red with the police crest in the centre and the
                               bottom circle has the letters "NPCC" in black against a metallic background of the bottom semi-circle.

                            ii. A band 0.5 cm thick encircling the two circles. The top semi-circle is in red. The words "SANA ANTI -DRUG ABUSE BADGE"
                                is in black against the metallic background of the bottom semi-circle.

B)
Positioning

This badge will be worn directly above the left pocket of your shirt and will take precedence over the Civil Defence, Marksmanship, Campcraft, and Safety First Badges.

C)
Qualifying Requirments

This badge may be awarded to a cadet of at least Sec 2 level and who has passed the following tests :-

                           
Stage 1

                             i. Written test based on lectures, films, slide shows and workshop seesions of a two-day course.

                           
Stage 2
                 
                           
Practical assignments

                            i. Draw a Poster based on the theme of Drug Abuse Prevention

                           ii. Compile a Log Book based on the theme of drug abuse / Anti-Inhalant

                           iii. Perform the Role of a Transfer Agent. The Transfer agent's report should be incorporated into the Log Book


Marksmanship Badge

A)
Description

The Marksmanship Badge is made of metal and is of a circular shape with a diameter of 3 cm. It consists of a revolver in the centre againist a yellow and white circular target with the words " NPCC PROFICENCY BADGE - MARKSMANSHIP " around it.

B)
Positioning

This badge will be worn directly above the left pocket of your shirt and will take precedence over the Campcraft and Safety First badges.

C)
Qualifying Requirements

This badge may be awarded to a Sec 3 cadet who has had a minimum of 2 dry practices in the handling of a revolver and who must have attained the required standard at the Annual Revolver Classification to be decided by Training (Field) and SO Training (Dev).


Life-Saving Badge

A)
Description

The Life-Saving Badge is made of metal and is of a circular shape with a diameter of 3 cm. It consists of a safety float in alternate dark blue and white colours encircled by the words - " NPCC PROFICIENCY BADGE - LIFE SAVING ".

B)
Positioning

This badge will be worn directly above the left pocket of your shirt and will take precedence over the Anti-Drug Abuse, Civil Defence, Marksmanship, Campcraft and Safety First Badges.

C)
Qualifying Requirments

This badge may be awarded to any cadet above the age of 14 who has successfully completed the Life-Saving Course conducted at HQ level and passed the Life-Saving tests (Bronze medal) conducted by the Royal Life Saving Society of Singapore.


Music Trade Badge

A)
Description

The Music Trade Badge is made of metal and is of a circular shape with a diameter of 3 cm. It consists of a Lyre in white on a blue background. It is encircled by a red band with the words - " NATIONAL POLICE CADET CORPS, SINGAPORE ".

B)
Positioning

The Music Trade Badge will be worn centrally on the left sleeve approximately three centimetre below the Unit Formation Sign.

C)
Qualifying Requirements

The Music Trade Badge will be awarded to all cadets who are members of the NPCC Band.
