Jim Weaver
Lead Tenor Sax
arrested for impersonating a musician
A Chicago native, Jim was abducted by the Air Force at an early age. He entered the Air Force Academy in 1959 (Class of '63) and spent the ensuing 30 years in uniform.  Along the way he accumulated 3700+ flying hours in USAF jets, 261 combat missions in Vietnam, a MS degree in Systems Analysis from the Air Force Institute of Technology, and a succession of interesting assignments.   He is a former fighter pilot, a retired Air Force Colonel, and a retired financial planner.  Playing jazz tenor sax with the Lamplighters has offered Jim an opportunity to get back into music after decades in remission.  Jim's other diversion in retirement is his Goldwing motorcycle (AKA the Landjet), on which he often cruises the Texas Hill Country in formation with other riding enthusiasts.  When not on the Landjet, Jim spends his free time as a civilian flight instructor teaching a new generation of aviators the finer points and joys of flying.
