Don hails from historic Culpeper, VA (a town named after one of the infamous absentee governors of the Virginia colonies, Lord Culpeper, who won the governorship from King George in a poler game....oh, and George Washington slept there, too!). Don received his B.S. in commerce from the University of Virginia and an M. A. in counseling from Ball State University. He spent 24 years in the Air Force as an electronic warefare officer (EWO) with flying tours as a B-52 EWO and backseater in the F-4C and F-4G Wild Weasel fighter aircraft, which included a Viet Nam combat tour during the Linebacker 2 operation in 1972. Don retired as a lieutenant colonel and ran a carpet cleaning franchise for 8 years. He now is in new product sales and motivational speaking. By now you've noticed a decided lack of musical training in Don's background -- cause it's not there! Pretty much got it the hard way on his own (well, we did have to teach him to blow into the little end of his horn...) Don has played in a number of concert and jazz bands in Ft Walton Beach, FL, and here in San Antonio, TX. He doubles on the didjeridoo and is a practicing Reiki Master and sound resonance therapist. Guess he hasn't decided yet what he wants to do when he grows up -- we're just glad he keeps putting air through his horn! Don currently serves as the Lamplighter's president. |
