Captain Strong

Years Active: 1940-?

Captain Strong was never given an origin beyond this: he is a "two-fisted soldier of fortune." In his lone appearance he fights against the "Arabs" as a member of the French Foreign Legion.

Note: He's very much a stock Golden Age character type, being descended from such fine pulp characters as Arthur Friel's Roderick McKay and W. Wirt's Jimmie Cordie. It's not to be wondered, of course, that the type didn't prosper and last; the attraction of mercenaries naturally diminished as World War Two went on and we saw people fighting for better reasons than love of money and love of bloodshed.
