Dale is the "ace investigator of the F.B.I." When "crime runs rampant on the Barbary Coast" (the infamously crime-ridden section of San Francisco, not the Moroccan haven for corsairs), including "daring bank robberies, killings, and kidnappings," Dale is sent in to solve the crimes and clean up the town. When the "notorious killer and overlord of crime" Red Corker escapes from prison and he and his gang go on a crime rampage, Dale is brought in to recapture Corker. Dale flies his plane (he owns one) to San Francisco, and survives a kidnapping and attempted drowning to finally gun down Red Corker and capture his gang, thus bringing peace back to the troubled Tenderloin.
