Finley's Newsstand

Editor's note: Jeff Finley established this Web site in 1998 while in graduate school. Jeff does not update this site on a regular basis. Jeff's latest prose can be found instead on the Sun-Times News Group's religion blog What Do We Believe? written by Jeff and another Pioneer Press editor.

Welcome to the newsstand of Jeff and Jen Finley. Jeff is the managing editor of three of the Sun-Times News Group's Pioneer Press newspapers. He received a master's in public affairs reporting from the University of Illinois-Springfield in 1999 . While in Springfield, he worked as a Statehouse reporter for Lee Enterprises Inc.'s four daily newspapers with Illinois readers. Before attending UIS, he was a student in the master's program in journalism at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, where he worked as a graduate assistant for the Public Policy Institute. He graduated from Greenville College in 1996 with a B.A. in English. He married Jennifer K. Nead on June 20, 1998, at a Free Methodist Church in Indianapolis, Ind. Jen is a therapist at a behavioral health hospital. She is a 1998 graduate of Greenville College, where she majored in psychology-religion and English. She received a master's degree in community counseling from Roosevelt University in January 2003. She previously worked as a director of social services for several health-care facilities and as a library coordinator for the Daily Herald.

In this 1999 Associated Press photograph, Jeff Finley (second from left) and other reporters record the comments of Illinois Gov. George Ryan.
