THE TUBES

BILLBOARD LIVE & CLUB CAPRICE

December 4 & 5, 1997

Thanks to Dawn (dawnw@lbank.com) for her fantastic reviews...

Billboard Live - December 4th, 1997 Hollywood, CA:

All I can say is as usual the boys just do not disappoint.

I was excited being my 30th birthday weekend to have The Tubes in town. What a way to set it off. As usual, I have to put myself front center or I just can't be there. Every song from "Fish House" to "Slipped My Disco" was right on (and of course I am not being biased.) I was in seventh heaven until the mosh pit started and got knocked in the back. Yes, that was me, the red head who got smacked hard. I have never in my days at Tubes shows seen a mosh pit, what a rush!

From Fee's voice being the best it has ever been (and what a voice) to Roger's great guitars, Rick's bouncin Bass lines, David's keyboards kicken' (I swear Mike and Vince weren't missed sound wise but in spirit), Gary switchen to killer keyboards and guitar could not be beat. And what about Tre!!!? Filling infor Prairie (very much missed) but beatin' just as hard. The withdrawals of no tours in a while sure got me Tubin again.

Surprise, surprise good friend Steve Lukapher (sp?) gets on-stage and belts out "Talk To Ya Later" on the guitar. These shows are becoming star studded with the help of Richard Marx at last years Billboard live show (thanx again Richard.) These guys have just got to stay out of the business and into rock in roll.

Cafe Caprice - December 5th, 1997 Redondo Beach, CA:

Talking to Roger Thursday night, thinking the show was Saturday night and not Friday at Cafe Caprice, I realized I get to go nuts at another Tubes show. It just can't get better than this. Once again I am there, on the side unfortunately as they had tables and chairs set up on the dance floor and trudging through 3 hours of El Nino to get there. Yes I am a dedicated Tubes fan.

Once again...what an awesome show!! They did change the set around and got to hear "What Do You Want From Life." Since I was pulled on-stage in 1982 (yes a very young Tubes fan at the time and always will be) to be dressed up in a bullet proof bra and tetsie fly shawl, I always love to hear that one. In fact, I met someone who was pulled up the night after I went at the lovely Country Club in downtown Reseda. You gotta love it. All I can say from my previous review, DITTO! Please just keep touring and make the world a happier place.

Talk to ya later!!!!!!!
