Trebuchet Pictures

I designed this trebuchet throughout my junior year. It stands more than 10 feet high and releases the projectile (a cantaloupe) at about 38 feet above the ground. It weights more than a ton and uses 600 pounds of counter mass to swing the arm around. Our best launch was 180 feet. Using kinematic equations, we found that the cantaloupe hit the ground at 68 mph! Then it exploded.

Next, year… I can't wait!
