History
We bought our
Buick in 1994 in a garage where it had set for over 25 years. The
body wasn't in bad condition as it still retained its origional coat of
black paint which wasn't all that bad. We were told that an old fellow
was the last to drive it and this story was confirmed by the wealth of
dings and dents found on almost every panel. The trunk floor needed
rust repair as well as where the rear fenders mounted due to the sandwiching
of metal and fender beading. The floorboards were rock solid as well
as most of the rockerpanels. The engine was stuck and well rusted
inside so with the help of another '37 Special for parts we were able to
find a correct engine.
As we began
to remove the interior to access the rear fenderwells we found a small
brass tag applied at the factoy with the name of a man and Mechanic Falls,
Maine. Under the rear carpet we found the original envelope that
contained the keys at the dealership. How it survived the years is
a mystery to us.
