| It'd never be done in this day and age, this is a photo i nicked from a lecture i had at uni... that dog there is called Laika, it was in fact the first creature ever to go into space... thats right kids, they packed that doggie into that tiny module and blasted it into orbit about the Earth... and if you're all waiting for a happy ending to this adventure of Laika, im afraid to say through failure of thermal control on the module, Laika was expected to have died after a few hours of being in space. Not that it mattered that much, seeing as the craft a couple of weeks later re-entered Earths atmosphere and became charcole. POOR DOGGIE! oh btw, for you patriots out there... it was the Russians who launched the pup into space. |
