  • 5:30 pm, CIA vs. Ninilchik (girls: Ninilchik wins 43-14. Emily Wood and Kendra Moerlein lead in scoring with 13 and 11 pts. respectively. Em is hot with 3 three point baskets. Also scoring: Jenn Erickson - 6, Krista Leman - 5, Heidi Skjold - 4 and Jenn Bartolowits and Mindy Dawson each contributed a basket.

  • 11 am Galena vs. Ninilchik (girls): Ninilchik wins 48-42. Jenn has a big night with 15 pts. followed by Emily Wood with 12, incl. a couple of tres. Lauren Wolford has 8 pts., incl. a couple of tres. Other scorers: Krista Leman - 7, Mindy Dawson - 4 and Kjersten Skjold - 2.

    *Lauren Wolford won the 3 pt. contest and Jenn Erickson and Emily Wood made the All Tourney team. Our girls got 2nd in the tourney and also won the Sportsmanship award which is voted on by the referees. Congratulations to all the players and their wonderful effort!




  • Dec. 28th Alumni game Ninilchik School, 6 pm girls, 8 pm boys. Alumni men and women win their games.



  • Lumen Christian here Jan. 7th @ 5 pm: Ninilchik wins 71-34. In double figures for the night were Kendra Moerlein with 18, Lauren Wolford with 15, including 3 tres, and Jen Erickson with 10. Other scorers: Mindy Dawson had 7 and Emily Wood put in 6. Sisters Heidi and Kjersten Skjold each added four points while Kelsey Rohr contributed 3 and Ashley Bartolowits and Krista Leman put in a basket apiece.



  • Nikolaevsk here Jan. 11th @ 4 pm. Ninilchik wins 51-24. Kendra and Emily led the team in scoring with 14 and 11 pts. respectively. Em's points included a three pointer. Kjersten and Krista scored 9 and 8 pts. respectively. Other scorers: Jen and Lauren each contributed 3 pts., freshman Heidi Skjold made a basket and Jen. Bartolowits made a free throw.



  • Anderson here Jan. 13th @ 6 pm. Ninilchik wins 79-9. All players scored pts. tonight as follows:

  • Cordova Tourney Jan. 20th - 22nd, 2A Yakutat, 3A Dimond JV, 2A Ninilchik, and 3A Cordova:

    Jan. 20th: Ninilchik Girls beat Yakutat 37-28 with Jenn leading all scorers w/ 16 pts. Jan. 21st Ninilchik beat Dimond JV 48-22 with Kendra leading the pack. In double figures for our team were Kendra with 14, Emily with 11 and Jenn E. w/ 10. Jan. 22nd: Ninilchik beat host team 3A Cordova 53-23 led by Emily Wood who put in five 3 pt. baskets and a free throw to lead with 17 points. Other players in double figures were Jenn. E. w/ 12 and Kendra w/ 10. Tourney MVP: Kendra Moerlein. All Tourney selections: Emily Wood and Jenn Erickson. Congratulations to all!




  • Jan. 28th: (4A)South Anchorage JV, there. 7 pm. Girls only. Our girls won 46-22.



  • Feb. 3rd & 4th: Dillingham (3A) here. 6:30 on Thursday and 5 on Friday. Friday night's game went into overtime and Ninilchik won 50-44. Three players were in double figures - Jen Erickson led with 17, Kendra contributed 13 and Emily put in 10. Krista, Lauren and Mindy also scored. Saturday's game proved to be tougher. Hot defense from both teams kept all players on both teams to single figures and the game went into double overtime. Sophomore Krista Leman made an exciting 3 pointer to send the game into its first overtime. Dillingham ended up winning by one point with the final score 27-26.




  • Feb. 5th, 2:00 @ Lumen: Ninilchik wins 58-37. High scorer was Emily Wood with 12 followed by Kendra with 11. All other players contributed except for Kelsey who was sidelined with back spasms. Three pointers were made by Krista Leman (1) and Em Wood (1).




  • Feb. 9th: Mr. Wetherbee, former Ninilchik principal, is bringing JV boys & girls teams from Atquasuk. Games begin @ 4 pm. Canceled.




  • Ninilchik Tourney Feb. 10th - 12th with Unalaska, Northway, Seldovia boys, and Valdez JV:

  • 6:15: Ninilchik girls vs. Valdez (Ninilchik won 59-28: Kendra Moerlein and Emily each scored 16 points, with Em making three tres. Other scorers were Lauren with 7, Mindy with 6, Tera - 5, Heidi - 4, Krista - 3 and Jenn Erickson - 2. High scorers for Valdez were Molly and Courtney, each w/ 8.)
  • 8 pm: Ninilchik boys vs. Valdez (Ninilchik won 64-44))


    Friday:

  • 3 pm: Valdez girls vs. Unalaska. Unalaska won 47-24.
  • 4:45: Valdez boys vs. Unalaska. Unalaska won 91-38.
  • 6:15: Ninilchik girls vs. Northway. Ninilchik won 91-28.
  • 8:00: Ninilchik boys vs. Seldovia. Ninilchik won 60-47.


    Saturday:

  • 11 am: Northway girls vs. Valdez. Northway won 63-47. Northway's Eva Thomas was hot w/ 24 pts.
  • 12:45: Seldovia boys vs. Valdez. Seldovia won 64-51. Evan M. lit it up w/ 30 pts. for the Otters and leading scorer for Valdez was Travis C. w/ 18.
  • 2 pm: Ninilchik girls vs. Unalaska. Ninilchik won handily 85-33. Leading scorers for the Wolverines were Jenn Erickson and Emily Wood with 17 and 15 pts. respectively. Everyone played and everyone scored! Ashley scored 6, Krista - 7, Lauren - 9, Kelsey - 2, Kendra - 9, Kjersten - 8, Jen B - 2, Tera - 4, and Mindy - 6. 3 point baskets were made by Em (3), Krista (1) and Lauren (1). Leading scorers for Unalaska were Mariah w/ 16 and Trista w/ 12.
  • 3:45: Ninilchik boys vs. Unalaska. Javin Halpin led Wolverine scorers w/ 26 pts. On the Unalaska side, Ryon Bruce led his team w/ 18.


    All Tourney & All Sports Selections:

    Ninilchik girls and boys both took home top slots in their own tourney.

    All Tourney selections included Krista Leman, Jennifer Erickson, Emily and Tourney MVP Kendra Moerlein.

    On the boys side, Javin, Connor and Josh all made it.

    Girls All Sports Team included Krista Leman and Lauren Wolford and Javin and Josh.




  • Feb. 18th: 3A Tri-Valley here, 5 pm. Ninilchik girls nearly double Tri Valley's score in a big win - 64-34. Leading all scorers with 14 points was Kendra Moerlein. Emily was right on her heels with 13 points, including a three pointer. Scoring 7 pts. each were Krista, Mindy, Jenn E. and Kjersten. Other scorers for the night included freshman Heidi Skjold with 4 points, Lauren with a three pointer, and freshman Tara Schnaubl with a basket. Leading the Warriors was Grace Millikin with 14.




  • At Nikolaevsk Feb. 22nd 4 pm. Ninilchik wins 55-42. Scorers: Emily Wood - 15, Lauren Wolford - 9, Kendra Moerlein - 6, Kjersten Skjold - 11, Kelsey Rohr - 2, Jenn Erickson - 3 and Mindy Dawson - 9.




  • Tok Tourney Feb. 24th - 26th. Ninilchik beat Wainwright (Alak) 62-31, lost to Skagway by 15 and beat Galena. On the All Tourney Team: Kendra Moerlein and Emily Wood. Winner of the 3 point shooting contest Krista Leman




  • CIA here March 1st. Ninilchik, playing without Jennifer Erickson, beat CIA 50-44. Kendra poured in 21 pts. to lead the Wolverines. Krista Leman iced the win with her consistent free throw shooting at the end of the game and had 9 of 10 pts. from the line and a total of 11 points for the night. Other scorers were Emily Wood with 8, Kjersten Skjold with 4 and Lauren, Jenn B and Mindy each made a basket.




  • District Tournament March 9th - 12th. Ninilchik is hosting at Soldotna Middle School Stay tuned to the website Mr. Eric Skjold has created for the tourney: Peninsula Conference Tournament District III, 2A


    Game One for Ninilchik was against CIA on Wednesday. Ninilchik won 42-30.

    Game Two for Ninilchik was for the championship game against Bristol Bay on Friday. Bristol Bay edged Ninilchik 46-42 to secure a berth to State.

    Game Three was on Saturday against Lumen Christie to vie for 2nd seed to State. Ninilchik won a close battle with only four players scoring - Krista Leman had 8, including 2 three pointers, the first of which gave Ninilchik its first lead of the game. Kendra scored 12 Jennifer Erickson - 9, and Kjersten Skjold 4.

    Making the All Tourney and All Conference Teams were Emily, Jennifer E and Kendra. Congratulations girls and good luck at State!
