winter notes

ice, wind, snow and cold
spring is young - winter old
ice is
crystal edges angled sharp
a razor's edge or satirist's wit
cutting like surgeons' scalpels
a million thin, suffocating layers
coating everything exposed
like glassy, frozen candied apples
ice - is NOT nice

wind is
pushy, insistent, annoying bluster
corrosive, indecisive, careless and endless
the manifestation of elemental madness
whipping, grinding, howling and moaning
beating down joy and hope
raising up snowdrifts and sadness
wind is NO friend

snow is
a watery shroud of flaky ice
an immature form of slush
the shape, colour and sound of silence
the inverse of sunshine
clouds gone to earth
rain with an excess of effervescence
snow is NO go

cold is
the temperature of a coma
the heart of a dentist
the remnants of wars
the true nature of hell
the abandonment of hope and life
the death of stars
cold is VERY old

cold, snow wind and ice
winter is death - but summer's nice

They did not own the process, but were consumed by it, while the owners profited greatly. The only legislation then in existence was the Master and Servant Act. A wonderful law, for the Masters - not so good for the Servants, who worked 16-hour days under horrific conditions, and received pitiful wages.
