A US Navy lieutenant and an IRA leader. Sounds like something out of a Romeo and Juliet mock-up romance. Thicken the plot with a baby and then have the father kidnap the child. And we get called in because Lieutenant Nevin's father is CINCPAC. It could be titled 'Conflicted Hearts' or 'The Lieutenant and the Irishman.' Harm would die laughing if he knew I occasionally read romances.

There are a few details that were missing from the briefing, such as the fact that Lieutenant Nevins has NOT severed contact with Lorcan Barnes. And that she was about to be transferred back to the states with her son. She believes that Lorcan does not wish to lose his son and that's why he kidnapped him. She's still in love with him.
I could say we met Lorcan today, but it really wasn't anything more than a glimpse across the street. Harm and I looked around, but he vanished. Instead we followed bread crumbs to a small pub off the beaten track. The IRA has an exceptional network and ability to pass information; I think Webb would be envious. The drunk who challenged me to darts was no such thing, so now we have a meeting with Lorcan tomorrow if we can lose our tails. I'm the odd man out this round, so it's my job to play the wild goose to allow Harm and Lieutenant Nevins to make the rendezvous.

Waiting is exceedingly frustrating, particularly when everyone around you has information and refuses to share it. I don't even know if Hutchinson believed me when I said Jimmy had Lyme disease.

Jimmy is back safe with Lieutenant Nevins, but I'm afraid that he will only know his father through the stories she tells him. Lorcan sacrificed himself to allow us to get Jimmy to the consulate.

Perhaps Jimmy will know his father after all. Harm believes he caught a glimpse of Lorcan at the airport. He wouldn't tell me until we were on the plane, but I'm guessing it was Lorcan's way of letting Lieutenant Nevins know he was still alive.
