A baby in arms "knows" only, to borrow the words of Paul Simon:
"Got no deeds to do, no promises to keep; I'm dappled and drowsy,
and ready for sleep."
But, in fact, his whole life is a promise.
His mother may never be more aware of the promises she now
has to keep, for the rest of her days.
Some of us might even say that this is a moment
in which God has a lot of promises to keep.
The baby rests in the mother's arms,
and is removable.
