| The wiccan rede , the reed or the rede .The wiccan rede is a text or poem .It wasn't wrote by G.Gardner but was mix with what we know as wicca.Some people said the author is unknow , other said it's Lady Gwen Thompson and Adriana Porter. Now , everyone which practice wicca know this ethic.The famous sentence you probably heard is : he harm none do what you will.You can find two different version of the rede ( a short and another a bit longer).To read this version click on the link : version 1 or version 2.Actually , wiccan (name give to a person which practice wicca) respect the rede and consider it very important.If we analyze the rede , the message give by it is harm none , this explain why the famous sentence is he harm none do what you will.Harm none , in the three fold law the message is the same.The real question is : our ancestors , they never hurt someone , it's always for help people ?Of course not , just think about it a few second.The rede and the three fold law is a protection , for you and for author of pagan book..If you hurt someone , author don't want to be responsible of your actions.And of course people don't want to be hurt , so you will not heard the opposite.This is only a barrier , a limit of what you can do.You are not totally free to do what you want.I think this barrier is not a necessity , maybe for beginner but for other ,do you really need a barrier ? We are adult , mature and we can assume our actions and the consequences and we are not suppose to need a barrier like baby.I think this rule exist for some people who are not mature , you know , in case of , but I personnally don't believe and respect it and it's the same thing for the three fold law.You are free to do want you , do you understand the meaning of freedom ?Meditate on this , but the choice is yours and it's normal to respect the rede if you practice wicca.If you practice witchcraft , I mean traditionnal witchcraft , you are not suppose to respect the rede beacause the rede is a part of wicca.But theirs not true path so ...... |
