| Name: wicca Tradition or path of : pagan path with different tradition Start in: in the middle of the 20 century Founder: Gerald Gardner Ethic: the wiccan rede ( you can't harm anyone) and the three fold law Three degree system: yes : initiate , priest and high priest Particularity : theirs a lot of tradition ( list of tradition ) Description :Wicca is the most know path.The practice of magic take a great place and can't be done without the ceremonial aspect.They also have specific tool to use .The three fold law and the wiccan rede are the ethic . Follower of wicca mostly believe in a triple goddess and a horned god (duotheism) but it depend of the deity choose by the person.They practice different form of divination and magic .They never hurt someone . Because wicca is a mix of ancient and new element , some people who practice other pagan path try to ridicule wicca and said it's only for new age people .I personally think wicca is the most accessible pagan path and it's so easy to find information.They have 8 sabbat (religious feast) which include equinox , soltice ,harvest festival.To know more on wicca , I suggest to read book of Scott Cunningham and Silver Ravenwolf , both of them are famous for the good book they wrote on wicca. | Name: duidism Tradition or path of : a celtic pagan path Start in: unknow Founder: unknow Ethic: yes Three degree system: yes :ovate , bard and druid (which is similar to initiate , priest and high priest but different) Particularity : druid honor more the god aspect , alphabet ( call ogham ) Description : Druidism is very different from wicca for all this reason which describe what it is : magic is not the most important thing. Druid also practice astrology , astronomy , herbalism and magic but magic is not the central point.What we know today has druidism is of course a reconstruction .We know that druid existed in 4000 BC.They mostly honor the god aspect which mean they celebrate more the solar festival than the lunar day ( like a full moon) but it doesn't mean they don't celebrate other festival. Some of them are just consider more important than other .Divinity are choose by the practionner but they are celtic .Druid have this kind of special connection with the earth .They also consider that nature is equal which mean the moon don't represent only a feminine aspect , it can be a male aspect too. |
