| Paganism, wicca, witchcraft, circle, etc... These words and their meaning seem very complicated for someone who doesn't know what they are. The fact is, for someone who does know, it's complicated too. To really understand,we have to analyze every word and every detail, small and great. They are important because a small detail can become the source of a major problem. I think in the futur it will be more and more difficult to find the truth. Actually, a lot of things are not clear to me and these things are some of the "sources of a major problems".I 'm a pagan, I have been practicing eclectic paganism for five years now and a lot of thing are not clear. If it is not to me, imagine how it is for other people who are not pagan. For them, it's a real headache, how are they supposed to understand. Personnally, I think it is not normal to have 5 totally different versions of the same story. That is why I will try to be very clear and specific on things I analyze. If it is not enough or if you have questions, feel free to e-mail me . I read somewhere than some researches were done on wicca. I didn't read those researches which are supposed to have been produced by neutral people. The fact is nobody can be neutral because everyone always has an opinion on the subject. I'm not neutral because I'm a pagan but my opinions are very different. I'm in the middle, my family doesn't understand and my friends are pagan too. Yesterday my cousin told me I was crazy "you really think you're a witch?". I meditated on it, I tried to understand the reaction of people but it's difficult. I try to understand other pagans but I don't understand them either. Some people represent exactly the myths. Anyway, that didn't stop me, I will continue harder as long as I will live to search for truth and fight ignorance.. Neo-paganism : what it is? Most people use the term neo-paganism when they talk of wicca and all other religion which are considered "new age" and recent. Neo means new . Paganism is not new but we use this term because paganism in this century is not what it is in the past .It's mostly a reconstitution of what our ancestor did and it suddenly reappear in the middle of the 20th century with a men who wrote books on a form of paganism.After that , other path and tradition reappear too . | How paganism begin in the past ? A long time ago , the civilisation was born.Technology like tv , computer , car and refrigerator wasn't exist.People depend of nature to survive.They have to grow their own food and do some reserve for the winter.Anyone on this earth believe in something , so people honnor the sun , the moon and the earth and consider them like divinity , gods.They depend of the weather and nature , they also honnor what they are the most important for them.No food mean dying.That's basically how paganism start.This religion of our ancestor was existing during many century but slowly disappear not only with the apparition of a new religion who said to be the only one .Other factor had not help .Because paganism wasn't accept , people were convert , by choice or by force.During the middle age, this only one religion take all the place and a phenomenon appear.People became hysterical and accuse innocent people to be witches ( wich mean automatically evil).Innocent were burned or hanged , we call this period the burning time.The society of this period was different from today.When it happend , paganism have mostly to not said totally dissapear.Many monotheist religion have appear.Now in the 21 century , in a society which are suppose to be civilize , paganism reappear and take slowly his place .Paganism of today is a reconstruction and is not the old same thing. We wish for the futur generaton that a period like the burning time will NEVER happend again.Don't let your ignorence condemn different people.Enough of innocent people have died. |
