Laboratory Experience

Forensic laboratory experience
Thirty four years of experience of working in Central (federal) Forensic Science laboratory, India. Served as Director Incharge and Dy. Director (Ballistics). Head of the Ballistics (Forensic firearm) Division of central (federal) forensic science laboratory, India for 25 years.
Firearm case work experience
Examined more than 5000 criminal cases involving firearms.
Crime scene experience
Visited numerous crime scenes involving firearms and assisted investigating agencies in the reconstruction of scene of crime.
Court experience as firearm expert
Testified as Firearm expert in several hundreds of criminal and military courts of India. Besides identifying the involved gun, assisted the court in the verification of prosecution/defense version and in the reconstruction of the shooting incident.
**Testimonies rendered on significant issues of forensic firearm have been published in Indian journals covering exclusively court case judgments ( Criminal Reporter / All India Reporter ) and referred to as case law.
Experience of imparting training
Trained laboratory personnel of the ballistics (forensic firearm) division of central /state forensic laboratories and rendered expert guidance to Police officers (Investigators) and Medical officers (Coroners) on various aspects of forensic ballistics (firearm).

Academic experience
18 years postgraduate experience of teaching Forensic Ballistics (Firearms).
Theory and practical Examiner.
Visiting Faculty(Forensic Sc) Panjab University,Chandigarh, India.
Currently teaching Forensic ballistics, Questioned Documents, Tool marks, Tire marks etc. ( Post graduate Diploma in Forensic Science and Criminology)
Research Publications
Published/Presented sixty research papers on forensic firearm.
Added new dimensions by evolving new identification techniques.
#Identification of projectiles (bullets, pellets& wads) fired from smoothbore, improvised and home made firearms [Ph.D. Thesis]
##Time of firing of fired ammunition and firearms.
University supervisor
Supervised three(3) successful Ph.D. graduates.
Topics:
i) Forensic studies on gunshot residues deposited on clothing layers.
ii) Studies in trajectory parameters of low velocity projectiles of handguns for evaluating problems of forensic significance.
iii) Chemical studies of soil of Chandigarh and its application in detection of crime in cases involving explosives.
