Updates:

The Milano is in working order now.  The driveshaft donuts have all been replaced with my father's help.  Some driveshaft balance issues show their ugly heads and I'm still struggling with that.

A little introduction:
Allow me to tell you a little bit about the author of these sites.
Hi, my name is Grant.  I've loved automobiles all the way back when I was just 5 years old.  My parents thought I was wierd because all I did was play with my toy cars.  That stopped for a while and by the time I was eight or so, I was reading all about super cars.  They just fascinated me.   I still can't get enough of the machinery invloved in cars.  I've got some experience under the hood (bonnet, do as you please).  I'm really into the british and Japanese "Super Sedan" series because these machines resemble and drive like their real world counterparts.  I am starting to really understand these machines now and am able to relate with fellow Alfa/Maserati/any Italian except De Tomaso enthusiast!

I have created this site to help people understand and love my favorite automobile companies.  My friends say "Lamborghini, Ferrari!!" and I say "Alfa romeo, Maserati!!"  My family owns a 164, Milano, and 2 Biturbos (one of which, I'm proud to say, is a 1 of 250 made "Biturbo E" series) and a Lancia Scorpion.  I have background information on the origins of these companies as well as technical cut-aways and picture galleries and downloads and more and more.... just not yet.  I'm in the middle of remaking the entire website (stupid java!) so I won't have it all done yet, but I'll be working on this thing constantly.

I'm working on getting a picture gallery of our cars and viewer's cars.  I'm also doing a restoration project.  I have 2 Biturbos, I'm going to use the parts from the first one to get the "E" model going.  I'll try to have all of this documented and ready for people to learn from our mistakes.  (1-2-04)
Cuore Sportivo-The Sporting Heart
Alfa Romeo- This Italian car firm started in 1910 as A.L.F.A. It's a milanese automobile production company. Alfa Romeo is not a person's name as commonly thought of, but is a four letter accronym. It stands for Lombardy Automobile Manufacturing Company (Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili-A.L.F.A.).  Romeo was later added to the name taking after a production engine.  Alfa's are known around the world for their extremely high standard of handling, rich and sporting exhaust note, and racing success up to this date.  Alfa Romeo has produced some of the finest examples of sporting sedans (they basicaly created the term "Sports Sedan") and are commonly referred to when defining what makes a sports car a sports car.
Although rarely seen, Alfa's have been imported from Milano in Italy since the 50's with the popular Giulietta series mass production car. They have been praised by numerous auto car magazines for their tossible handling characterstics, robust & fabulous sounding engines, and an affordable price tag!  They were, however, susceptible to usualy poor ergonomics, expensive parts, and a poor dealer network (now, non existent in the United States).  Alfa's are definetly perpose built performance cars not intended for the faint of heart.  With the aquisation of Alfa Romeo in the early 90's by FIAT, Alfas are all front wheel drive sports cars that are heading up mainstream and are running strong in the world of sports cars and sedans (Alfa is HUGE in the UK).  You really have to drive one to understand the magic in them...
Maserati- The name Maserati as I will be refering to belonged to 7 Maserati brothers who all in some way contributed to the name.  The Coporation Maserati came into being during a race in 1926 when one of the brothers raced a maserati produced car.  Maserati stayed with racing rather succesfuly and made tools inbetween races for funding.  The Maserati symbol came to being after Mario Maserati sketched a symbol for their company and had a string of really good races after building  production racer.
Maserati has been known for their GT cars and their plush and consequently expensive line of grand touring sedans fit for a king, or the shaw of Persia who fancied them enough to own several.  Maserati also made a few mid engined super cars such as the Bora and a fast coupe and small sedan series named the Biturbo.

(Biturbo S)
Biturbos (pronounced bee-turbo, not bye-turbo) were the outcome of Mr. De
Tomaso purchasing a large share of the company and having a say in the board room.  Mr. De Tomaso envisioned a car with the Maserati name but at a price that many people could grasp, an affordable exotic if you will.  The car was designed with a new twin turbo 2 liter V6 that pumps out 185 horsepower in stock form. and was built in up to date mass production standards but the interior was still done by hand.  The first year it was out, Maserati recorded the highest sales number that they ever had, 6 thousand cars produced in that year.
This car along with De Tomaso's ideas have lead t the fabulous cars Maserati are now making.
