A letter arrives for the wife of a Colonial militia officer, hand-delivered to her by Colonel William Tavington. The letter is from her husband, and may provide Tavington with the opportunity not only of gaining information on the militia, but also of planting in the woman's mind the doubt about her husband's wisdom in choosing to leave her to fight for an unworthy cause.

For me, the joy of FanFic (TavFic in this case), is in the examination, exploration, and expansion of a given character that I find fascinating (given the portrayal by the actor), and how that character might behave in certain legitimate circumstances. It is quite similar to my love of acting, and the necessary exploration of the mind of a role I might play.
