The Slater Home - Phyllis' Office

"I feel like we're children again, waiting to be punished by mom." Nicholas said shifting uncomfortably in a chair facing the desk.

"I'm glad you can find some humor in this." She slumped in her chair and sighed.

He looked at her and smiled widely.

She looked at him for a moment before cracking a smile, "God you look like an idiot."

He touched his black eye, "oh I don't know, I think it kind of adds some sex appeal."

They laughed for a few seconds but stopped immediately following the door opening. Phyllis sat at her desk. She took off her glasses, lifted her elbows onto the desk and intertwined her hands. "My darlings, you disappoint me."

Why do I feel like I'm in the Godfather? Nicholas thought looking at his mother.

"You know how important this election is to me. I can't have you going around slugging my opponent's daughter. That's just the kind of stuff Natasha will use against me. Brad seems to think we can get ourselves out of this one. But what if next time we're not so lucky? I can't lose this election. The Slater's have gone long enough in this town without any say in what happens and it's high time we've had it. So please, be good, behave yourselves. You're not eight years old anymore I shouldn't have to be telling you what is right and wrong."

"I'm sorry mother. Maybe I overreacted." Victoria said, "that woman just gets to me."

"Natasha gets to me but you don't see me slapping her around do you? Though I would get much pleasure out of it, I don't." She looked down at her desk and looked back up, "I'm done with my lecture." Victoria and Nicholas stood up, "Oh, Brad and I agreed it would be a good idea for me to have a personal assistant so if you see some girl you don't recognize, it's her. Now if you'd please excuse me I have some important phone calls to make."

Victoria and Nicholas walked out of the office. "Limos, personal assistants, the Slater's are moving up in the world." Victoria looked restless, "Kip and I are going to the country club, won't you join us?"

"I need to be with Trevor." She started to walk down the hallway leading towards her bedroom.

"Come on, nothing's going to happen to him. Come with us, you need to have some fun." He coaxed her.

She smiled, "we'll be the talk of the club with our battle scars."

Mia's Dorm

Austin pounded his fist on the door. He couldn't find her yesterday and was determined to confront her today.

She looked in the small mirror by the door and ran a hand through her messy, bed-ridden hair. Shrugging and giving up she opened the door wearing pajamas and a terry bathrobe.

"We need to talk." He pushed past her and walked into the dark dorm.

She flipped the light switch on and the bright light with the fan blades going around and around made her want to throw up. She groaned, "Austin, can it please wait? I'm not feeling well. I think I drank too much last night or something."

"No it can't wait." He moved close towards her.

"Please Austin, I don't feel--"

"I don't care Mia, not after what you did. You're sick. A sick, twisted whore!" He violently grabbed her by the arms. "I wouldn't put much past you but this! Oh, this is unbelievable. How could you do that? I just-I'm disgusted by you."

"What are you talking about?" She tried to pull away from him, "Let go of me, you're scaring me."

Regaining himself from his temper he let go of her. "Don't even play dumb with me. You know exactly what you did."

She looked at him directly in the eyes look for some clue, a hint as to what he was talking about, "I don't understand--"

"You slept with my sixteen year old brother for God's sake! Don't even tell me you don't remember. That's bullshit and you know it."

"What? Have you completely lost it?" She peered into his cold eyes again, "oh my God… you really think I would do that don't you?"

"Just stop playing games Mia. It's old, it's been old." He turned away from her, not capable of looking at her anymore.

"Austin, the only person I have ever--" She touched his back and tried to calm him.

He jerked away from her touch and turned around, "God Mia just stop lying!" He shouted.

She blinked, the man in front of her becoming blurry, she looked up at the fan, spinning, spinning, spinning. She brought her hands up to her face. "Everything's--" She collapsed and hit the ground with a thud.

He knelt down beside her, "Mia?"

The Robinson Home

"You ready for this?" Noah and Simone stood outside dreading opening the door.

"The honeymoon can't last forever." She took a deep breath, "let's go." She opened the door and they walked in together.

"I just called Sarah and Max. They'll meet us there, come on, we've go to beat them there." Natasha grabbed her purse. Ethan was rushing close behind her as they made their way out the door.

"Wait for me!" Alexandra ran to catch up with them.

"Noah, Simone." Charles nodded, "I've got a meeting to go to." He walked out the opened door.

Charlotte appeared from the living room. "I can't find my… Oh there they are." She picked up her glasses that were on table in the foyer. She looked up, "You two are back!" She kissed them both briefly on the cheek. "I wish I could stay and chat but the church is having a fundraiser. I'll see you two tonight." She shut the door behind her.

The house was now completely silent. "Welcome home…" He put his arm around his wife.

"Oh, yes." She tried to force a smile.

Philip's Apartment

"All right, I'll meet you there. Bye." She put her cell phone back in her purse. "Philip…" She frowned.

"What is it?" He moved over towards her and touched her arms. "Is something wrong?"

"I really hate to do this," she shifted nervously, "but--"

"Don't say it, please Laurie."

"I'm sorry, I really am, but Austin needs me. There's been a problem and I have to meet him at the hospital." She reached for her keys on the counter.

"Doesn't he have anyone else that can be there with him? Doesn't he have a brother or something?" He took a step back.

"Yes, but he couldn't get up with him." She put her keys in her purse.

"Yeah, I'll bet." He said sarcastically as he turned away from her. The rage building inside of him.

"What are you getting at Philip?" She walked over to him, touching his shoulder.

"Nothing, nothing." He jerked away from her touch, "Just go. Go be with him."

"Philip I don't want you--"

"Go. Just go."

As soon as she was out the door he threw the picnic basket across the living room, it hit the wall and the food scattered everywhere. "I hate him! I hate him! I hate him!" His face was red and he had a crazed look in his eyes. "Damnit!" He hit a table by him over. "Damn you Austin."

The Slater Home

"Miss Miller?" Lydia poked her head inside the office.

"Come in darling." She took off her glasses and placed them on the desk.

"I have the latest projections. They were just issued this morning." She walked over to the desk and handed Phyllis the paper.

"Thank you." She took the paper out of her hand and scanned it. She sighed and placed it down. Rubbing her forehead she stated, "Brian McCall is still in the lead… with Natasha and I running a very close second. Lydia, will you get me some coffee, black."

"Yes ma'am." She walked out of her office.

She opened a drawer and took out a bottle of aspirin.

"Headache?" Brad said entering the room.

"I'm in second place but that damned Natasha is right on my heels." She took two pills out and threw the bottle back in the drawer.

"Want to know my personal opinion?" He waited for her to nod her head, "I think it's because you haven't been doing enough publicity."

"What are you talking about Brad? I've been to charity after charity after charity!" She threw her arms up in the air while speaking, "I'm up to my neck with charity events."

"Though those are good there are much better ways of publicizing yourself." He began pacing back and forth while conjuring up ideas, "I think you should do television commercials, appear on the local radio station. Those two will surely help you out." He stopped for a moment and looked up at the ceiling, "I've got it!" He looked back at her, "we'll get you a billboard, imagine this." He ran his right hand over an imaginary billboard, "Phyllis Miller for City Council and in the center a great, big picture of you smiling that beautiful smile and underneath, 'the right choice,' or one of those cheesy taglines politicians use. It'll be great."

"I'll call the radio station right away." She picked up the phone and dialed a number.

"I'm on the billboard." He grabbed his cell phone and exited the room.

She smiled and shook her head while the phone was ringing, "I love that man…"

Heaven Beach Country Club - Dining Room

"Look Max!" Natasha grabbed Max's arm and shook it. "There she is! Arrest her this instance!"

"Natasha." He took her hand off of his arm. "I believe I can handle this on my own." He looked at Sarah, Ethan and Alexandra behind him. "I see you brought the posse with you."

"Well we need protection Max, that vicious woman might lash out and hit one of us. There are safety in numbers you know." She crossed her arms.

Max chuckled, "you make her sound like she's a rabid dog. Oh yeah! Look at her, foaming at the mouth as we speak." He pointed a finger at Victoria and then dropped it still chuckling.

"This is hardly a joking matter," she uncrossed her arms, "my daughter was attacked. Don't you even care?"

He shrugged, "Come on let's get this over with." Max and the small mob behind him walked over to Victoria's table.

Victoria dropped her fork. "Max, darling, can't say I'm surprised to see you."

"Hello Victoria. If you don't mind I'm not going to beat around the bush, frankly I don't have time for it, Miss Robinson has accused you of something, I think I'm going to have to take you two down to the station for some questioning."

"Oh?" She laughed and touched her chest. "Tell me, what have I done this time?"

"She says yesterday you assaulted her."

She rose from her seat, "Well, Max, there's nothing I can do about that now can I? In fact, that is fine. I too have a charge to bring against her."

He looked at Sarah who looked as if she was ready to kill, he looked back at Victoria, "Which is?"

"Trespassing."

Natasha stepped forward and sneered at Victoria, "you can't do that, tell her Max, she can't do that."

"Natasha, needn't I remind you that your daughter was in the residence of Miss Slater's when this so called incident occurred." He glanced at Sarah and then Victoria, both glaring wickedly at each other, "and I highly doubt Sarah was invited in."

"Before this goes any farther," Nicholas stood up, "I have my own charge to bring against someone."

Max sighed, "this is turning into a three-ring circus. Go ahead Nicholas."

He pointed at Ethan, "the kid assaulted me."

"You were holding my cousin back!" Now Ethan stepped forward, "Mister Allred all I was doing was protecting Sarah! That would never hold any weight in a court of law." He huffed and crossed his arms. Sarah moved over towards him and rubbed his arms.

"Okay, I'm stopping this now, do you three wish to press these charges?"

"I will not jeopardize my cousin, I will drop my charges if Nicholas and Victoria drop theirs. But this is only to protect Ethan. I'd like nothing more than to see them both rotting in a jail cell."

"Look like this one is draw. I drop my charges." Nicholas sat back down.

"Fine, I drop mine as well." Victoria said.

"Well Natasha thank you for wasting my time." Max walked off.

Natasha opened her mouth to say something to Victoria and Nicholas but couldn't find the right words to say. "Let's go." She said fluttered.

Heaven Beach General Hospital

Austin walked into the emergency room lobby looking very pale. Laurie noticed him walk in and rushed over towards him. "What is it Austin?"

"Thank God you're here." He wrapped his arms around her. "I don't know what I would do without you." He let go of her and looked into her eyes.

"What is it? Why are you here? Are you hurt?" She immediately began scanning his body for injuries.

"It isn't me." They walked to a couch in the corner of the lobby.

She sat beside him. "Please tell me." She touched his cheek, "you don't look well at all."

He put his head up against the wall, "I went to Mia's dorm today, just a few minutes ago. We were arguing and she just collapsed."

"Oh my God, is she okay?" She looked up at him waiting for an answer.

"I don't know. April took her into an emergency room." He sat forward with his elbows on his legs. "I can't help but think this my fault."

"Oh Austin," she placed her hand on his back and began rubbing it, "of course it isn't your fault."

"It is, we were arguing, I grabbed her and not too long after I let her go she just… collapsed."

"Why were you two arguing in the first place? What has she done now?" She asked continuing to rub his back.

"She slept with Ethan…"

She stopped and moved slightly back, staring at him, letting what he just said sink in. "No way… you're kidding."

"I wish I was Laurie… I wish I was…"

Austin's Dorm

Jacob opened the drawers to the desk in the living room, he thumbed through papers among other items that the drawer contained. There has to be something here. Something proving the paternity test was a fraud. He closed the final drawer not finding anything and shrugged. He muttered a curse and proceeded towards the bedroom.

Outside of the dorm's door Philip revealed a lock picker from his pocket. He pressed it into the doorknob and opened the door. He was going to find something to turn Laurie against Austin and if that didn't work completely take him out. He would not lose Laurie. While thinking this he walked over to the desk and opened the drawers and began searching through its contents.

Jacob opened the chester drawer and felt underneath the clothes. Nothing.

Philip closed the desk drawer. Giving up on the desk he looked around the room and a picture on the coffee table caught his eye. He picked it up and glared at it before taking it out of the frame. Austin had his arm around Laurie and both were smiling widely. Philip took the lighter out of his pocket and brought the flame to the side Austin was on. The flame quickly engulfed Austin's face.

Jacob came out of the bedroom and was startled to find someone in the living room.

Philip blew out the flame and dropped the picture on the couch. "Who the hell are you?"

"I might ask you the same thing…"

Heaven Beach General Hospital

April Moore approached Austin and Laurie, holding her report in her hand.

They both got up from the couch, "what's wrong with her April?" Austin asked.

"I'm afraid I'm not bringing you good news Austin…"
