We found out that we were expecting our 3rd child August 17th 2000. I was inside hoping that this was going to be our little girl. I had made an appointment with the dr. that I had that delivered her older brother Thomas. Well things in the pregnancy began to progress nicely and we were right on target for dates and size. Well a few months later I had to have the AFP test done and it came back boarder line for neuro tube defects. Her Daddy has a history of Spinal Bifida in his family and he has a touch of it in his lower back so we have to be careful with any children that we have (genetics counceling etc.) . So being that it came back boarder line we had to go to a maternal fetal specialist. I had my first appointment in December 2000. That was the day we found out we were having our baby girl. Needless to say I was very happy and glad. I had been lucky to have two beautiful boys and now having a girl (I was happy could finally buy dresses and hair stuff, dolls etc.) I went to see this specialist and he said that everything looked good and that I would probably deliver early, but not by much at all maybe a week or 2. So I went the next week to see my regular ob/gyn and he said that everything looked well to. I had to see the specialist one more time just to be on the safe side. So I went back and he did another sonogram. Well during the sonogram he said well that’s good. It kind of caught my ear. I said what do you mean so then he says well last time the placenta was over the opening of the cervix. Well being an EMT/D and delivering a few I knew that it could lead to complications (placenta previa, etc and would in turn lead to a c-section) I asked him why was I not told he said because they didn’t want to worry me. I screamed at the top of my lungs I think I have every right to know what’s going on with my baby and my body. If an emergency came up I would know what to expect. The next day I went to see my reg ob/gyn and asked him if he knew and he said yes so I gave him the same lecture. So needless to say I gave him a piece of my mind as well.  Elizabeth was always moving all over and threw the pregnancy we had a few close calls with trying to find the heartbeat so I had a lot of sonograms done to make sure that she was ok(little did know how greatful for those pictures I would be) she was a real wiggle baby I loved every minute of it. Each dr. visit my heart was in m throat. When Thomas first saw her he called her hoppy so that was our nickname for her cause she looked like she was hopping on her butt and it just kind of stuck. She was definately a stubborn on that’s for sure. She was in the breech position up until the 8th month.
