Mars the fourth planet from the sun and widely known as the red planet because of it's reddish tint . The planet was given it's name by the Romans in honor of their god of war.

RED ZONE MARS FACTS

The average recorded temperature on Mars is -63° C (-81° F).
The atmosphere is composed of 95.32% Carbon Dioxide (CO2).
The Oxygen content only accounts for 0.13% of the red planet's atmosphere.
The diameter of Mars is approximately 6794 kilometers (4219 miles), compared with Earth's diameter of (12,763 km / 7926 mi).
The comparison between a Martian day and an earth day are astoundingly close, the Martian day being (24 hours and 37 minutes).
A Martian year is nearly twice as long as an Earth year (687 days).
Mars has two moons Diemos and Phobos both moons are heavily cratered and porous from meteor collisions.

Can you see what looks like a face in the upper right-hand corner of this image?

Mars findings FACE or fiction? In 1976 the Untied States sent viking spacecraft to Mars. The spacecraft relayed scores of images from the surface of the red planet but one stands out. The Face as it has come to be called is that image. The image contained eroded mountainous terrain and various landmarks a few of which had certain recognizable features . April 5, 1998 - Mars Global Surveyor acquired a high-resolution 4.4 km x 41.5 km swath of the Cydonia Mense region of Mars, including the feature known as the "Face on Mars" .
