Purpose:


Traveling the community is often physically difficult and very expensive for people with disabilities and those on a fixed income.
You will have the opportunity to visit three (3) sites of cultural and historical significance within the community.
Your tour will provide you with a souvenir from each location to share with other members of the class. Enjoy!


Tour Stop 1: Ringling Museum


The Ringling Museum covers over 66 acres of land and was built in 1927 through the generosity of John and Mabel Ringling. Click on this blue link to begin your walking tour of the museum grounds: Museum Grounds

Answer the following questions after you have taken the tour:

1- What are the two (2) special events that are happening at the museum during the month of December, 2007?
2-  What Florida university currently manages the museum?
3- Review the on-line collections. What is your favorite collection and why?

Souvenir:

1- Locate the e-card section within the museum site. Find and print out two (2) postcards as a souvenir of your tour.



Tour Stop 2: Ca d' Zan

Wow! What a house! Answer the following questions after you have taken the tour:

1- How long did it take to build the house?
2- Who was the architect who designed the house?
3- What does Ca d' Zan mean?

Souvenir:

1- Find and print out two (2) postcards to save as a souvenir of your tour.



Tour Stop 3: Circus Museum

Now, that's a circus! Answer the following questions after you have taken the tour:

1- What collections are found in the museum?
2- What was your favorite collection and why?
3- Who created the "world's largest miniature circus"?

Souvenir:

1- Draw a picture of your favorite circus character.
2- Print out 2 of your favorite circus pictures.



Culminating Activity: After the Tour

1- Gather all of your souvenir pictures together and glue them to the construction paper that is provided in the classroom.
2- Write the name of each site under each picture and write in the date you visited each site.
3- Share your Virtual Field Trip Photograph Album with another student and with Mrs. Markovich.
4- Write down the answer to the following two (2) questions using complete sentences:
     - If you had the opportunity to visit with John and Mabel Ringling, what would you like to ask them about the various sites you have visited during this Virtual Field trip?
     - Would you like to take another Virtual Field Trip? Why or why not? Where would you like to go next if you could go anywhere in the world?
