K'Put's Closet

These are a few of my costume pieces. I make science-fiction/ fantasy costumes, and historicals as well. I am a member of the International Costumer's Guild. With the proliferation of heroic fantasy on the screen and television, an interest is growing in construction techniques for leather, suede, and ultra-suede costumes. Of course with the leather, comes the metal work as well. So whether you want to make a Xena Warrior Princess costume, Conan, Mystic Knights, klingon, or many of the other interesting and elaborate costumes out there, this is the place to look for construction techniques and possible patterns.

In no way do I intend to infringe on anyone's copyrights. I'm only using well-known media costumes, as a common reference point, and I encourage anyone to use the example purely as a vague guideline, and make your own version of it, rather than just copying the original.

I remember one masquerade at World Con, in Boston, where over 20 Princess Lieas were entered in the competition.  All wearing the same white dress, double hair buns, and either a gun or no prop at all.   None of them won because there were some many of them.  Doing an exact or semi exact copy of a popular character is not going to put you in the winners circle, some really well done presentation is the only thing that will get you noticed in a masquerade of that size.
