Jakarta Tour, December 16, 1997
|
|
|
|
|
|
The Jakarta tour is remembered as the most exciting milestone in
IC's history. Not because it was the first major event to be
undertaken by the choir, but it was indeed a leap of faith. For
some of us, it was a dream becoming a reality.
For just a little more than three weeks, the choir appeared in
27 separate occasions. From a special number presentation to a
full gala-show. From an audience of a family, to the thousands in
Senayan Hall on to others more thru a TV broadcast.
Miracles do happen. And we experienced it almost everyday here
in Jakarta.
Yes some of us remembered how we turn a vacuum cleaner into a
time machine at Gedung Kesenian Jakarta--and the Centurion
too. And then there were the policemen at Subang who thought we
were Filipinos who can speak fluent Indonesian. Three borrowed
vehicles that has to end up in a repair shop. And that soloist who
never sung solo (guess who). And of course who can forget the
tears of joy during that last meeting at MT Haryono.

Tribute to My Homeland, May 1999
|
|
|
|
|
|
This production show has been a long awaited event. Originally
planed to be staged at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, the
venue was turned to PhilAm Life Concert Hall. The event was to
commemorate the group's 3rd anniversary.
The production show exposed each member to the most ruthless,
cruel and demanding rehearsals ever experienced. Yet after more
than a year of preparations, the curtains were up.
With all the colors, customs, sounds and crowd--the 'Tribute to
My Homeland" was a sweeping success. The first part of the
show presents a repertoire of religious and cultural numbers
(Filipino and Indonesians). The second part was a 'history in
song' type of performance, with choreography and live traditional
music.

US/Toronto Tour 2000

To participate in the General Conference Session is a dream of
every performing choir. It is a rare occasion that only few can
experience.
The AUP Indonesian Chorale was officially invited to represent
the Southern Asia Pacific Division at the GC Session in Toronto,
Canada.
The group left the Philippines on April 14, 2000 to start their
two-months tour in California, USA, before embarking to Canada on
July, in time for the GC Session.
Joining forces with MT Haryono Choir, the AUP Indonesian
Chorale was given the 'prime-time' slot. The peak of Sabbath
Worship Service. Estimated audience at Toronto SkyDome at that
hour, 70,000 people. The US Tour was the longest ever.

Manado Tour 2000
|
|
|
|
|
|
After more than three years, the choir was back at Indonesia. This
time, the city of Manado. The largest Christian city in East
Indonesia.
Fresh after a heavy downpour left the city flooded for days, Manado
was being flooded again by beautiful and uplifting songs by the
choir.
Spending
their entire Christmas, the choir visited churches and homes. The
finale was a gala-concert at the Adventist headquarters. The choir
also shared experiences with their counterpart, Manado Chamber
Choir--a noted youth choir in the city. The one
thing the members enjoyed most during the trip was--the abundance
of food. Financially, the Manado tour has been the most successful.
Organizers say, it was almost stress-free. return
