iButton based Personal Identification System (iBPIS)

I-cards, punched cards, magnetic cards and many similar systems are in practice in almost all organizations to identify their employees, record their attendance and entry authorization in restricted zones. iButton based Personal Identification System (iBPIS) is a novice idea to store all person related information on MAXIM's memory iButton (DS1973) and enquire it through a PC or Hand held device whenever required through an IR link. IButton in this project is used to store minimal personal information viz. Person's ID, First name, Last name, Birth details, Designation, Department and Orgarnisation name. DS1973 has 4096 Bit Electrically Erasable Memory which can store upto 512 bytes of data. For more information storage DS1996 (64kbit NVRAM) can replace DS1973. The project consist of 3 major modules - a) iButton User (iBU) module, b) iButton Enquiry (iBE) module and c) iButton Programming (iBP) module, each of them are described below in detail.
