Welcome to the IMPACT d.c. website! IMPACT is a group for young professionals (ages 21-35) with plenty of social, community service, and cultural activities.

Find out all about IMPACT before joining! To be added to our mailing list, click on the "join our email list" link at main menu to the left.

UPDATE!

We have a vacancy on the Impact board for VP of Communications, which would involve sending emails, updating and maintaining the ImpactDC website, and posting our events on other sites. It's a great resume builder, and can be personally rewarding as well. If interested in either of the above, contact Mike.

Help deliver food baskets prepared for Passover. The recipients are the less fortunate in our Jewish Community—the elderly, the disadvantaged, and struggling immigrants—people who without our help could not fully share in the traditions and symbolism of Pesach. Each volunteer will deliver baskets to at least one or two families. Bring the family! It’s a wonderful mitzvah to perform with your children.

Anyone who would be able to volunteer on Sunday morning, April 9th, beginning at 8:30 a.m., or to deliver baskets and arrrive by 10:00 a.m. to pick them up, should Shari Barash at Barash.Shari@epamail.epa.gov. Please keep in mind that we also need your financial donations.Only $35-$40 supplies a Passover basket for one family. Donations will be graciously accepted and should be mailed to Marilyn Bargteil at the B'nai B'rith Regional Office, P.O. Box 4488, Silver Spring, MD 20914. Please mention in the memo field of the check that it's through ImpactDC.

Coming Soon!

- Happy Hour
- Community Service Event
- Taste of Israel

and more!

If you'd like to help out planning a future event, or have an idea for one, please e-mail us with ideas. Thanks!

Our recent events include a canoe trip, an Orioles game, our (for 3 years running) annual BBQ fundraiser (which raised $600!) for a select cause each year, our ever-popular Shabbat potluck dinners, screening of the eye-opening movie "Relentless", a Purim-eve happy hour in Cleveland Park, volunteering at the Capital Foodbank February 1st, and our annual Chanukah party.

Perhaps our most important area, though, is our social action activities, especially helping out Israel. On May 24th, 2004 we held our third annual barbeque to raise money for a select cause. This year it was for Camp Passport, a B'nai B'rith program that brings Israeli children who were victims of terror in Israel to the US for a few weeks to go to one of two B'nai B'rith summer camps. We raised $600 this year, Over 20 people attended to a lovely residence in Burke, VA.

In the two years prior to this one, we've rasised over $1,000 for Magen David Adom, Israel's equivalent of the Red Cross.

Finally, we'd like to congratulate the seven couples who met through IMPACT d.c. and are now engaged or married. We'd also like to mention the hundreds of friendships that have been formed from our group and its events. For more details on the couples, click here.
