MY SERVICE ACTIVITIES

FALL

SPRING

One of the few things I have grown to like in the past few years is community service. Last October, I participated in the Night of the Living Zoo at the Sedgwick County Zoo. Everyone had costumes,  I was dressed as a bee. At my stop we handed candy  and drinks to the kids. The fun part came when we offered the kids "Surge."  It was more like a trick rather than treat and the  parents were horrified. It was fun seeing the kids in their costumes - the most common ones were from the Star Wars movie.

My next Community Service Activity was the Salvation Army Bell Ringing in November. Jenn, Sidonie, Estella and I stood in front of Dillons with bells and baskets collecting money from customers. We also had Tony's CD player and we rang the bells to the tune of the carols playing. We had a few spectators and so we got a lot of money. It was definitely a lot of fun.

During the Fall semester I also participated in the tutoring program as an accounting tutor for Beta Alpha Psi. I met a few freshmen and tried my best to help them get over their anxiety and confusion over accounting.  Tutoring helped me learn some patience, refresh my memory about accounting principles, and save some time for studying.

SPRING ACTIVITIES

In March I participated in the Easter Eggstravaganza at the Zoo. It was similar to the Night of the Living Zoo except we didn't wear any costumes. We handed out candy and showed the kids the way to the different events being held at the Zoo that day.

In May I participated in the River Festival by selling tickets in one of the ticket booths. It was an easy way to get to know the knew pledges, meet the people of Wichita, watch the concerts and also battle with Mathematics without a calculator.
